How much would the addition of all 1AA teams and authentic 1AA stadiums increase your interest in purchasing an EA NCAA footbal game?

This is a pretty nerdy question, but I'm sure many of you have wondered the same thing. With the enhanced technology in the new game consoles such as PS3 and XBOX360, I can't help but wonder why EA doesn't add all the 1-aa programs with authentic stadiums. How much would the appeal of an NCAA game increase if it had authentic stadiums of 1-AA teams?

You know I have sorta been thinking it would be nice if down the road they had all DI, II, and III teams and you started as a DIII coach and worked your way up kinda like nascar works I guess. Just a thought but itd take way too much time and resources

I seriously think that EA is holding back on this. Every year they have to add new things.

Way back when, they added some 1-AA teams. If they added all the 1-AA teams, then your 1-A teams could have authentic schedules (like Wake Forest playing us last year).

I think it's also weird that although there are 1-AA teams on the game...do they also have the "generic" 1-aa schools. Like "I-AA South" appears on the schedule.

In my opinion, EA should add the 1-AA teams, but they don't care. That's why they bought the exclusive rights to college and NFL football, right....so other companies like 989 or SegaSports don't make them have to work.

Is 2K sports really a new version of Sega?

Um, you realize that outside of the small amount of people at I-AA schools, no one really cares if they're on the game, right? It's this same inferiority complex between I-A and I-AA all of the time.

The amount of money it would cost for EA to put authentic I-AA teams and stadiums into the game would exponentially outweigh what they would get back in return for it. There's no point in the I-AA teams in the video game.

no man...i'm awesome at that game anyways...I always pick the crappiest I-A school on there and turn them into champions....its a lot more fun that way

So if I was LU they would dominate all the time....

I'm just not so sure that it's such a small amount. You have to consider the fact that there are thousands of people just like us, all throughout the country. Also, I'm not sure how much time and energy it would actually cost to do that, when you consider the fact that they've used the same design for the 1A stadiums for years.
Seems to me like it wouldn't be that large of a project and today's technology should be more than sufficient to pull it off pretty easily. We're just talking about cement structures here, nothing tooooo complicated. Who really knows, I just don't think it would be that difficult. Or maybe they could just devote an entire series too it. If they're willling to do that for Arena football, I don't think it would be too far of a stretch.

I actually had a friend create Liberty and he managed to create the entire 2005 LU roster (of course he didn't have Karcher as the coach) I created my own version of LU and promptly went undefeated three straight years, won back to back Heisman Trophies with my star QB who obliterated the single season passing TD, rushing TD AND total TD records as well as the single season rushing yards record and total scoring, plus set records for longest TD run (94 yards), AND longest TD pass (88 yards).

i actually remember reading about on ign or gamespy like 2 years ago....an interview with EA...their would be a resource loss to do it and he also demand drives some changes and noone has demanded it....the only people who want it are diehard fans....most college kids that go to a Iaa school are fans of that school sure but usually consider themselves more of a fan of a IA school over a IAA...

take me for example....i'm more a mich fan than a liberty fan even though i'm lu alum....this is what its like for the majority of people i'm guessing is what he's saying.....i'll see if i can find it....i found it when back then some yokle was yammering for it on another message board...

I'm a huge LU fan. Everyone knows that. I love I-AA football.

However, I wouldn't like playing with Liberty on the game. I just wouldn't. I'd rather play with a mid-major (Boise St-esque) team and take them to the national championship than a I-AA.

I played with App St in 05 and after two games it was no fun and I deleted the dynasty.

I still believe EA is lazy. I think they could add all of 1-AA for not that much money, but it would involve extra work.

But since there is no competition, there is no reason to do extra work.

Correct me if I'm wrong...but it wasn't unitl '95 or '96, that 989 sports (I think that was Pygnosis that was bought by Sony, to make games for the playstation)...created a college hoops game that had all of the 300 and some 1-A teams.

EA had never done that...but after 989 did it and the game sold well...the next year's EA release had all of the teams as well.

A company like 2K sports should see this as an oppertunity. Even if your a solid 1-A fan...don't you want to have a totally accurate schedule? A lot of 1-A schools have that oppening 1-AA game. You want that school to be on your schedule so you can point them...instead of a generic 1-AA south or something like that.

I think that's the best chance of seeing the 1-AA teams in the game, if another company does it first.

I know EA bought rights to the NFL last year...but do they have an exclusive on college football, too? I'm thinking that 2K sports is still making college games. (Not Segasports 2K series...but a company called 2K).

The programmers work within the confines of the platforms. They decide how best to utilize the available memory and often times that means less teams in exchange for ratcheting up the game action a bit.

That's probably the last time I'll ever take up for the gaming industry again after my experience in it.

Programmers can make the macines do what they want if necessary.

Look, the Atari 2600 could do scaling and rotation (see Robotank).

EA sports made a hockey game with 5 players per side and goalies for the Commodore 64...which could really only handle 8 sprites at the time (programmable moving objects).

It was called International Ice Hockey, and in the manual EA apologized for screen flicker, and stated...you realize the hardware is not intended to handle this many moving objects...this is why you experience screen flicker.

I still say EA is lazy. They can do it if they need to. Since no one is pushing the barrier, they won't.

We're not talking hardware. They can only put so much on the actual video game (meaning the DVD that you put into the hardware). They only hold so much.

I really don't think the DVD space would be an issue if they wanted to make it work. When you create a team...it takes up a miniscule amount of space on your XBOX or memory card.

To add all of the I-AA teams wouldn't take that much space...if they wanted to make it fit, they could. Do they still use video openings? Just compress some of those video files at the beginning...that'd get you more than enough space on the DVD.
