I'm not sure if this is a sport or not, so someone move the thread if you want.

Like a car wreck, I have a hard time averting my eyes from this gross spectacle every year. Kobayashi is going down this year with a jaw ailment (so he says). The new Champ will be the new record holder Joey Chestnut.
He set the record last month with: Hot Dogs: 59.5 Nathan's Hot Dogs and Buns / 12 minutes/ June 2, 2007

I watched the last 3 minutes of that while I was flipping the channel, and the announcer said that if Chestnutt wins this will be the greatest moment in american sports history!!!

Can I have some of what he's drinking?!?!?!

I think a majority of the commentary on this event is said with tongue firmly implanted in cheek. My favorite was "if Chestnut holds onto this lead, google "American hero" tomorrow and you get Abraham Lincoln, maybe Neal Armstrong, Taylor Hicks and Joey Chestnut."

Now when the guy in the straw hat, who is the owner/promoter of the eating circuit says it, I think he's SERIOUS, but at least he has financial inducements for that.
