I finally heard the actual clip of what she said and this has been blown WAY out of proportion. She obviously did not mean that she wished he had died. But anyway, she does go overboard in other cases and that's just what she does to sell some books.

I love Ann Coulter, but she does take things a little too far sometimes - even if she is just being funny. However, at least she is attractive...the same cannot be said for Michael Moore of the left.

I am writing this as a moderate conservative... ann coulter drives me crazy.

She doesn't debate, she spews hatred on anyone she doesn't like. I was watching an interview with her on TV a couple years ago when she was debating a Liberal. He was kind, courteous, yet somehow that wasn't good enough for her. She started going "Lalalalalalalalala, I don't listen to liberals who talk too much lalalalalalala Liberals are stupid lalalalala."

Is this what the political process is all about?

Mind you, 3 years ago, John Edwards didn't talk about his dead son all too often. He didn't mention it out of the blue at all.
However, when you lose a child, you want to remember them, talk about them. Let people know how that has affected your life.

I volunteered for the Edwards campaign, and mind you I probably won't support him this time around, but I have nothing but respect for his wife. She is one of the classiest people I've ever seen, and I wish her the best. Ann Coulter just needs to shut up and actually discuss the issues, instead of telling everyone else how stupid they are.

Postman is right, if this was a Liberal doing this, we'd all be complaining right now about how stupid they are. As Christians I think we have an even bigger calling, and that is to show people that behavior, like that of AnnCoulter, is unacceptable whether it's coming from a Liberal or a Conservative. We need to confront the culture at large, without being negative and self-absorbed, like Ann Coulter.

Don't you mean liberal?

Enough said.

I disagree. She's a hypocrite and a snob. She looks down on every blue collar North Carolinian in the state. She and her husband are rich off of stolen money. Ever read the article about how she treated her neighbor in Chapel Hill because he couldn't afford to "clean up" his property next to their mansion? No? It's a good read. Dude's family has the land for years and when Johnny Lawyer comes building his mansion next door, all of a sudden he starts getting harassed by the snobs. Again, she is a typical liberal elitist and I have nothing but contempt for her.

Ann Coulter does what she does for a reason. She uses shock value to draw attention to things that wouldn't otherwise get the attention they deserve. Most of the time the things that people think are so shocking are actually puns and plays on things liberals have said or done. Unfortunatelly, most people aren't usually informed enough to get the joke and then the press makes a big deal out of it. It's not my style but I almost always agree with what she has to say.

Team Ann.

Umm, I volunteered for John Edwards in high school once he joined the Kerry camp I got out, I have since then changed my views.

Secondly, you never, ever, make a joke or pun from the death of another, such as the joke she used about Edwards' dead son. If you want to honor her for using shock value to bring attention to issues, you can put her on the same pedestal as howard stern.

Has this been blown a little out of proportion? Yes. But she still should have avoided it.

The problem is her puns and jokes DISTRACT from the real issues and we're stuck discussing her stupid "supposed" jokes than the real issues.

Once again, I mentioned when I saw her on TV and she was acting really IMMATURE. That's not discussing or bringing up issues, it's acting like an idiot to get personal attention for herself. That entire interview, she barely discussed the issues. She just talked about how stupid liberals are.

No respect for that, none what so ever. Is this about discussing the issues or selling books. I think it's the later.

For some of us, that's worth discussing. Most "issues" are just symptoms of their stupidity.

I LOVE Ann Coulter. While I would not say she is HOT I would say she is Sultry. Maybe I just like tall women who smoke.
As for her comments, I did chalk it up to "Ann being Ann" till I heard the whole thing. It is blown WAYYYY out of proportion. She was jut parroting what Bill Maiure /Manure/Manuble about the VICE PRESIDENT and no one reacted. She is a great speaker and her comments are VERY insightful. THe problem is people cant get passed the "abrasive" act she puts on. But if you read/listen to her arguments, they are hard to dispute

I think that Ann's original comment about Edwards' son was in the context of Edwards' being the kind of politician that would use anything to advance his political agenda. The article was written three years ago, and it was the only time that Coulter made reference to it.

The fact that Edwards' wife brings this up three years later and asks Coulter to stop saying something that was said only once, and again three years ago, only serves to support the idea that the these people will use anything to garner support for their political campaign.

For the record I understand why Ann does what she does, and I understand what she is trying to do. I like how if we don't like her all of a sudden we are not intelligent enough to know the issues she is mocking. That is just an ignorant statement. I understand why she does what she does, but honestly she does more harm for the conservative movement then good. I am a conservative and there is no question in that. I am an independent, but only because I feel the republican party went off in crazy world the last few years. Ann Coulter may have some of the same beliefs as I do, but she is by far one of the most annoying people I have ever hear speak....

you can spin that and say I must not understand the issues all you want...but the fact remains she is obnoxious and completely stuck on herself, and people like Sean Hannity feed the beast that is Ann Coulter...

I said "most people aren't usually". That's not a universal statement. I don't doubt that some people get her and still don't like her, but a lot of people don't like her because they don't get her.

Falwell Confidential: Defending Ann
From: Jonathan Falwell
Date: June 29, 2007

This week, I read that Ann Coulter had said some pretty shocking things about Democrat presidential candidate John Edwards.

I wondered why she would say such things.

Then, as Paul Harvey might say, I read the rest of the story.

Here’s the gist: On ABC’s “Good Morning America” broadcast, Ann Coulter was asked about some critical language she had used about Democrat presidential candidate John Edwards. In her response, she recalled something that the often coarse comedian Bill Maher once said about Vice President Dick Cheney.

She said, “… you know, Bill Maher was not joking and saying he wished Dick Cheney had been killed in a terrorist attack -- so I’ve learned my lesson: If I’m going to say anything about John Edwards in the future, I’ll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot.”

Her point was that Bill Maher, a liberal, can get away with saying the most scandalously terrible things about a national leader, so she’ll do the same thing since it is evident that that type of language is acceptable on the public airwaves.

But that language is not acceptable.

That is, if you’re a conservative.

And so the media has been reporting, quite erroneously, that Ann Coulter has stated that she wishes John Edwards was killed by terrorists.

It would be funny if it weren’t so pitiful.

You see, the truth doesn’t seem to matter these days.

The media appear to be more concerned with creating perception than reporting the news.

It sometimes amazes me that members of the mainstream press do not even comprehend the basics of a story. I wonder if they are simply slow-minded or if they are willfully blinded by their political agendas.

It’s got to be one or the other.

Whatever the case, it is increasingly evident that there is no equal playing field in the so-called mainstream media, the great embracers of “diversity.”

Miss Coulter was on the Fox News Channel’s “O’Reilly Factor” on Thursday night and she seemed to be worn out by the continuing dishonest portrayals of her words.

Who wouldn’t be?

So I say this to Miss Coulter: As long as you continue to contradict the policies of the mainstream — which expect us to gullibly accept everything they say — you will carry a target on your back. This is a truth that my dad experienced almost daily throughout his 51 years in ministry.

It is apparent that when you stand up for conservative values, and especially when you stand up for Christian values, you will be ridiculed. But as my dad often said, we are not called to be popular, we are called to be faithful.

Ann, rest assured, there are millions of people in this nation who appreciate your willingness to step into hostile fire in order to point out the inconsistencies of the mainstream. May you be bolstered by our prayers and well wishes.

Special Service at TRBC

This Sunday (July 1) is a special day in the history of Thomas Road Baptist Church. We will celebrate the conclusion of our miracle “Year of Jubilee.” God has blessed our church in so many ways these past 51 years and we want to look back and thank Him, while also looking ahead and praying for His continued blessings.

Just as Israel crossed over the river Jordan, we are crossing over into a new chapter in the history of our church. My father often talked about the next five years being more productive in this ministry than the previous 50. This Sunday, we begin that five-year journey.

I am inviting all readers to join us for this important event. I will be sharing the five-year vision for TRBC and we have a special event that will take place at the end of each service.

We will have two identical services on Sunday (one at 9:00 a.m. and one at 11:00 a.m.).
