I've seen them a few different times but this was the only one that they were headlining. The opening bands were alright, I can't even remember who they were. Then the lights went out for a second, they came back on and they were already playing. The room was so small the entire crowd was shoulder to shoulder and you were in constant motion. One minute you'd be up against the rail in the front getting shoved by a bouncer, the next you'd be in the back corner. I didn't see the other guy that I went with until the end. And when we were leaving, I was exhausted from trying to keep my balance, covered in sweat, it was pooring outside and I just sat out in the parking lot for a while trying to recover.
Wow! MxPx! This was my favorite band in high school and still one of my all time favorites. Their first 3-4 albums (and especially the first two) I still play all the time. I went to my first show in Atlanta and when they played the remake of Donna I was sold. I saw them numerous times in the powerhouse in Greenville and various other places. They really lost me in the last few years though so I will have to check out the new release. There was nothing like a show headlined by Mxpx with either 90 lb wuss opening, or Value Pac, or even the Supertones. Great stuff.
