I did see a major improvement in player attitudes on the hall when McKay took over...and it was noticed by others in the various hall leadership meetings that we had. To me, that says there is a huge difference in what type of coach that Dunton was/is and the type of coach that McKay is.

Dunton did take us from worst in the nation to top half of Big South, and for that I'm thankful. However, its time to go to the next level with McKay.

Personally, I think that McKay's disciplined approach is very fitting for this university. Furthermore, I believe that he is going to be an outstanding coach here at LU. I can't wait for the Ritchie-Mac era to begin.

But there is no need to trash Dunton on this board. The man was committed and he enjoyed some success here, especially with the NCAA appearance in '04 and with his rebuilding effort in '07. We should show just a little class and be grateful for his contribution and just leave it at that.

His methods though should be taken as what they were.

Dickens, on the other hand, is classified as a lost cause. But we really do need to cut the guy some slack. I mean, he feel in love with Doug Stewart during his very impressionable High School years. Honestly, what trendy metero-sexual would not have been drawn to DS during his formidable HS years?

You're a Dunton apologist, but you know the dirty things he did behind the scenes. Anyone who pays attention to, or knows people in the department knew what the type of dirty stuff he did.

Some people have a different approach to coaching than other people do. Dunton was/is a nice guy and he didn't seem to be very tough with his players. Coach McKay is tough with the guys. When I went to CFAW (yes, I know, I was an anoying little CFAWer, and I'm sorry if I bugged any of you while I was there ) I went to the gym early in the morning and he was working with the players and I watched a little bit. The guy makes you want to play for him because you know he'll make you better.
But the point of this is both Coaches are good people, one of them just knows how to coach basketball better. I'm sure Dunton was trying his best, and I sure McKay will and is trying his best, too.
