We Are All in It Together, Clinton Says
Tuesday May 29, 12:11 pm ET
By Holly Ramer, Associated Press Writer

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) -- Presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton outlined a broad economic vision Tuesday, saying it's time to replace an "on your own" society with one based on shared responsibility and prosperity.

The Democratic senator said what the Bush administration touts as an "ownership society" really is an "on your own" society that has widened the gap between rich and poor.

"I prefer a 'we're all in it together' society," she said. "I believe our government can once again work for all Americans. It can promote the great American tradition of opportunity for all and special privileges for none."

I wonder if she'd take the same approach that her buddy Hugo Chavez is taking to implement that in his country?

I have a feeling Hugo is going to be lying low for a day or two.

Glad to see Hillary is sticking to her socialist guns. It makes her an easy target come election time.

That means pairing growth with fairness, she said, to ensure that the middle-class succeeds in the global economy, not just corporate CEOs.
Does she really think that America will ever have a society where the middle-class succeeds the way "corporate CEO's" do?
It's one thing for the government to promote social programs to pull our country out of a depression... it's a whole other ballgame when we're at an all-time low unemployment level and our prosperity as a nation is high enough that we've not paid an extra tax since going into war 4 years ago....

yup

its the "government's job" to promote "fairness"

funny, I thought the gov'ts job was to promote international trade and provide for the national defense. That's about it.

oh- and, FAIRNESS according to WHOM, exactly?

I'm with Medic-she gets elected, I'm just going to wait until the day I don't have to work b/c all the wealth is shared.

As Dr. Clauson would say, "Bad policy begins with good intentions."

I think she should feel free to give all of her own personal wealth that she wishes to the poor but she should not use the power of government to redistribute other people's wealth.
