IMO seems like the players play a lot differently in college than they do in pro sports.

well obviously. but if i was playing to try to make it to the pros, as oppose to playing in the pros, i think i'd have a different mentality. the professional guys are making wads. seems like their level of contentment with their team and gameplay is a lot different (on a lower level) than the level of contentment a college ball player strives for (a higher level).

i completely disagree....sure there are a few bad apples but the want to win in a professional sports team is in no way less than in college....you've just bought into the story...

seeing as how i haven't played college ball nor pro ball, i would have no way of knowing what goes through those guys' mind. i'm sure it'd be a different story if i were actually in their shoes.

just from my POV, it seems like I'D play with a different drive in college than i would in the pro. in no way do i mean to discredit the player's accomplishments or game or anything. i have great respect for the pro ballers... i mean, after all, they've reached the top.

as far as the NBA...if people want to look down the NBA for the "thug" like image they have and completely stop watching it then you must stop watching the NFL.....the percentage of players getting in trouble with the law is just as high if not higher in the nba....and in all reality the percentage of pro athletes getting in trouble with the law isn't any higher then the percentage of the general population getting in trouble with the law

yes, they are pro athletes and with that comes higher expectations, especially with the money they are getting paid...but a lot of people don't watch the nba because of its "thug" reputation....but they are huge nfl fans....very interesting

no doubt i care a lot more for, and can handle a lot more of, men's basketball than women's basketball. i keep up with the women's program here for the same reason SJ said... to support the school. i want to see us do well in everything. same thing for duke women's basketball. i want to see the school generally do well, so i follow it.

the third (and only other) women's team i watch is unc... but that is SOLELY in hopes that ivory latta will be fouled hard, get ejected, or something along those lines.

I don't like all the sports that LU athletics sponsers...but I want them to do well, and am curious at what goes on. I want them to make good moves...the more teams that perform well makes my school look better....i have gone to several women's basketball games while here...i have almost fallen asleep everytime, but i was there....

so that is a long explanation for why i post there....though i do not post in the women's forum nearly as often as i post in the mbb, football, and hockey forum....but i do hope all our teams do well...

duke football... well, before this year i usually went to all the home games. i've heard from those who went to the spring game that they "look better," but i've heard that a million times... and they're never better. i'm excited to check out Thaddeus Lewis (QB). supposedly he's doing pretty good. it's tough for me to get to into it after going to games for 10 years and watching them lose as much as they have been. every season you think you can have a little confidence with a new season, new recruits, etc. NO, doesn't usually happen. i want to be proven wrong, but it just hasn't happened yet. but i'm faithful... i'll never not be pullin for 'em.

well at least UNC went farther than DOOK in the NCAA on both the men's and women's side of basketball.
