For the first time, LU is giving a fall break next year. That break just so happens to fall on the same week where we have our longest road trip for football.
Classes end October 3rd (Wednesday) and we get Thursday and Friday off. This gives us more time to drive to Toledo and back.
JDub, Bryson, time to start planning since it's official.
This has probably already been posted, but LU used to have a fall break, and they stopped it my junior year (until now, I guess).
The reasons were simple:
1) with Thursday and Friday off, students figured "well, I don't feel like showing up Wednesday afternoon, so I won't". So Wednesday was basically punted, so people usually left on Tuesday. And then they were too tired to show up on Monday... so that's how a two-day break became a week-long one.
2) Students who despised the place the moment they walked on to campus usually dropped out around Fall Break; pushing it back (to coincide with Thanksgiving) means that the students hung around longer, and with more invested in the semester, were more likely to stay around.
