my favorite part about my DVR is that you can type in the name of a show that isn't ever on any channel. But if by chance it ever does come on one day, it'll grab it for you, even if you didn't know it was gonna be on. When I got mine I immediately typed in "airwolf", and just a few months ago SciFi played like 20 episodes of airwolf in a matter of 3 days. I was looking through my recordins one day and it was like all airwolf. I was so excited. After having watched all of them, I've since realized that it's actually a terrible show. I also did the same thing with "the wonder years" which was just picked up by ION every weeknight at 10 and 10:30. That show still holds up well.

I love ION just for having The Wonder Years on. My wife and I have watched several episodes since we noticed it was on. Love that show.

I also love the "record if" functions of DVR's. My DVR software will record shows based on title, date, category or even actors/actresses in the show. (Yes, I have a "Charlize Theron" filter set on our DVR. ) It also let's me have some custom menus. For example, I have a menu that shows me all upcoming NFL games, sorted by date. Same for hockey and college basketball. I have another that shows me all of the movies coming up, and that can be sorted by genre, rating, year of release, etc.

How do people pay for cable/satellite and not have a DVR? :dontgetit I can't watch TV without one anymore.

I have to worry about rushing home from church tonight to watch american idol since it's on an hour earlier tonight. Will the cops buy the argument - "I don't have my tivo anymore, officer!"

HMO...did DTV give you any problems trying to install a Tivo box? That is huge for you that you can use Tivo with HD.

You are using a direct tv box, correct? It takes several days sometimes for the program guide to "populate."

because we don't know how to work one.

I'm not kidding.

I scream at the TV every night because the buttons on my 7 yr old remote don't work the thing anymore and it just gets stuck. I have the old RCA reciever w/ the purple oval eye thing in the middle and that 157 button RCA remote.

Neither work right but I'm afraid to call for a new one 'cause its taken me 7 yrs to figure out how to work THIS stupid one.

Which is now broken. :banghead

Which is why you get a TIVO instead of a generic DVR - It's the Apple of DVR's. It's so easy even SHORT people can use them.

I am right with you, PAmedic - people from Michigan don't have a right to make fun of anyone. I am glad I am not one! In fact, I don't think YANKEE's as a whole should be making fun of anyone.

Medic - TiVO's really are actually easier to work than VCR's. That was one of the big problems with VCR's. Too hard to program. TiVo gives you an interface that lets you pick the show you want and then you can just say "Yeah, record that whenever it's on." instead of worrying about setting timers. It's a sweet deal.

He's had that up for a few months. Well, he may have changed it, but it's been up before.

I prefer pecan pie myself. Or just go for the gusto and get banana’s foster.

Medic - One of the best features of Tivo / DVR is pause and instant replay. Imagine watching Michigan beat Penn state again this year over and over and over again!

I know it's been up for a long time now. I've just never thought to ask about it. I didn't know anybody could like pie that much. It's more like the type of thing that everybody likes, but not well enough to list as one of your favorite things.

Yeah, I like it that much. At one point last year, my wife and I had a serious conversation about putting a freezer in our basement just for me to keep frozen pies in. Feel like pie? No problem! Let me just run down to the pie freezer...
