Very nice day, and i somehow got food in the end. It was great meeting you guys, and although Medic, TD, and ATrain though Radford was bad, I got to witness a true meltdown at the Hillcats game, where they gave up 9 in the last inning. Anyway thanks a bunch everybody, especially Smoothie for cooking the burgers and Mrs. Scar for the best cookies on the planet. HOW COULD I FORGET?????? Thanks Jim for the cider........

As for the game, one thing that kinda worries me is the deep passing game. I know that will improve over time, but alot of times our WR's couldnt win anything on our corners. Brock looked solid under 20, and Wesley Cheek is a horse. Again

MOST IMPORTANT(after how good looking the female species is here): Soeren Wendland comes up with a sack. Im on his dorm, and that was just really exciting. Now the Rocky-esque celebration he needs to work on a little bit, but boy I am really excited for him.

Last thing.... did LUreal ever sign the board????

And there were plenty of nuggets in Chris' notebook as well:
LU Notebook: Tech shootings take a toll on linebacker, cornerback

Lynchburg News & Advance
April 22, 2007

Liberty linebacker Stevie Ray Lloyd heard from his girlfriend, a Virginia Tech student, Monday afternoon. She was fine, locked away in Shanks Hall, not far from the scene of the horrific shooting spree at Norris Hall.
Here's the kicker

Liberty coach Danny Rocco didn't find any definitive answers to the team's kicking issues this spring, but he did find some potential candidates to challenge for the punting and kicking duties in the fall.

Walk-on Daniel Sterckz punted eight times Saturday for an average of 38.6 yards. His best kick was a directional punt Lloyd downed at the opposing 6-yard line in the first half. Liberty must replace punter Ben Beasley, who averaged 38.1 yards per punt last season. Zac Kolegue, LU's placekicker who missed the spring rehabilitating from knee surgery, also will get a shot at the punting and kickoff duties.

Receiver Wynton Jackson, who made the play of the day on a 64-yard touchdown reception over the middle, gave Smith a C for his performance. The quarterback wasn't much more forgiving, giving himself a C-plus

Brock made some bad throws, He actually overthrew Crawford when he was wide open in the endzone on one play. He has made strides though even with those troubles

Been a busy day/night...but it was cool finally meeting a bunch of you guys....I had to take off right after the game to get some stuff done....but thanks for the food...

as for the game...nothing more to add to what people have already said...the team looked solid...of course some things need to be worked on...but i think this year is on the right track...and those new suites are awesome...if I was old and rich I would get in on one of those....but i am young and a student and the student section will do just fine...

great crowd too....the home side had people from end to end...not packed all the way through, but great crowd....i heard today they are expecting the same amount we had for homecoming for the first game of the season, that would be amazing....

I thought it a bit harsh- but maybe these guys just expect more out of each other.

I hope it was a hint that they expect more out of each other and are trying to help each other with constructive critisism. not destructive....

El Scorcho wrote:This was a long pass from Brock to someone I can't remember and who's number I can't quite make out in the photos. I'm sure someone remembers who it was.
That's TE Corey Rasberry on the receiving end there.

I think that, in light of what they've shown in the passing game the last few weeks, Brock and the receivers have a right to be disappointed in today's results. It was adequate but it's not as good as they've been.

i was niether impressed by the play, nor the attitude of #27 (i think that was him). tim torrence would be his name, if i have the right guy. a number of times he reacted in a sorry way to the officiating, and seemed a little hung on himself. i don't know the guy, or where he came from, or anything, so i don't know what i should have been expecting. an initial reaction he made in the first half had my eye on him the rest of the game... and i was not impressed.

Are you talking about the kid with his jersey tucked in his shoulder pads and the long grey t-shirt that started yelling to the fans? If so, that was Kent Hicks, transfer from Tech.

Torrance is #27 but I think SJ's right. You're thinking of Hicks, #26.

yeah, i thought it was #26, but i didnt see him on the roster, so i figured it may have been #27. but yeah, cocky people are my pet peeve. why not just be good, or bad, and shut up?? no need for all that complaining or celebrating. i'm not a fan of it.

Personally, I don't mind a guy having an over-sized ego so long as he does what he's asked to do both on the field and off. But, if he doesn't? Well, then he'll find himself spending a lot of quality time with Kill Bill.

Hicks was wearing #26 today but I think he's actually #28 on the roster.

i just feel like a player's attitude is a representation of the staff, team, school, etc. i agree that if he's getting the job done, he needs to be on the field.

it just caught me the wrong way to see him, solely, acting different, in that aspect, than the other 200 players.

i saw it. i was wondering what was said. looked kind of quick and nonchalant. i imagine it was something concerning his action after that play.

I was wondering if maybe he was just letting him know that would be a penalty in a real game?
