PLATINUM SELLING RAPPER TELLS '60 MINUTES': WOULDN'T HELP POLICE CATCH EVEN A SERIAL KILLER BECAUSE IT WOULD HURT HIS BUSINESS AND VIOLATE HIS 'CODE OF ETHICS'

Thu Apr 19 2007 12:47:1 ET

Rap star Cam'ron says there's no situation -- including a serial killer living next door -- that would cause him to help police in any way, because to do so would hurt his music sales and violate his "code of ethics." Cam'ron, whose real name is Cameron Giles, talks to Anderson Cooper for a report on how the hip-hop culture's message to shun the police has undermined efforts to solve murders across the country. Cooper's report will be broadcast on 60 MINUTES Sunday, April 22 (7:00-8:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

"If I knew the serial killer was living next door to me?" Giles responds to a hypothetical question posed by Cooper. "I wouldn't call and tell anybody on him -- but I'd probably move," says Giles. "But I'm not going to call and be like, ÔThe serial killer's in 4E.' "

The gangsta rap culture is creating a criminal mindset. What was once described as an "expression" where artists claimed they were only acting in roles (and not necessarily endorsing the behavior) has now become a way of life for many. This is primarily a result of
1/ Music labels profiting from edgy material and always trying to one-up the competition
2/ Political correctness

At the core, this is a sin issue.

Nothing b/c he's black, and according to those two if you criticize a black person (or if you're not a Democrat) you're a bigot, racist, and prejudiced.

No, Nothing would change my mind on this... I just feel that it is a good idea....

Watch Katt Williams- "Pimp Cronicles Volume 1" the section about Martha Stewart and Lil Kim...

I am in no way validating my point that it is a good idea on something called the pimp cronicles, but its just something funny about the topic at hand.

And Project Pat has song out called "Tell Tell Tell" Ft. Lyfe Jennings and Young Jeezy about the topic as well...

Its one thing is someone is being stupid/breaking the Liberty Way by going to see an R rated movie or your roomie having sex and you walk in on them...keeping your mouth shut/minding your own business can be a good mindset in those cases.

Its quite another if you know a person wanted for murder is staying next door. I daresay that if that person goes and kills someone the next night, you're just as guilty because you didn't do anything when you had the chance.

Abortion is 30 AND a $500 fine, in addition to community service.

I would have to say that I sort of agree with TBGBG on this one. In no way am I saying that if you know someone commited a murder, rape, or some horrible crime you shouldn't tell on them, but I think there would be a lot less animosity between people, especially on this campus, if people just learned to mind their own business and not snitch on each other. There are very few times when people who snitch actually do it to help the other person, they just do it to get that person in trouble.
