It's really not about like or love. It's about accurate or innacurate. I often find Imus annoying to the point that I turn the channel. I can't speak for fsn32, but the only reason I responded was that I felt your statement about his irrelevence/lack of influence was totally incorrect. The fact is, if anything he is more influential than he should be, and he is one of the first to say that.

We have been having this debate at work for almost a week now...My best friend is black and I consider Smoothie and SCAR to be very good friends of mine.. I understand and see how the word "Nappy" is affensive and I wouldn't use the word... Would it sled by had he just used the word hoes, probably so. I have listened to IMUS since I was like 10 back when he used to be on WLNI... I think he went to far, but I don't think he should be fired, I think that Sharpton is just using this to make himself look good, I don't take that guy seriously at all... Should he have been axed for two weeks maybe/maybe not.. I think he definitely paying for the statement right now... Had Howard Stern said this, it would have been just another day at the office...

NEW YORK — Bruce Gordon, former head of the NAACP and a director of CBS Corp. (CBS), said Wednesday the broadcasting company needs a "zero tolerance policy" on racism and hopes talk-show host Don Imus is fired for his demeaning remarks about the mostly black Rutgers women's basketball team.

"He's crossed the line, he's violated our community," Gordon said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "He needs to face the consequence of that violation."

Doesn't look like this is going to blow over anytime soon, until heads roll.

I'd be very interested to see how a zero-tolerance policy would play out for the media companies. Bring it on.

look i watch his show and/or listen to his radio show because hes like listening to my grandfather....and like my grandfather, his opinion is of no relevance to anyone....bands/authors/anyone hawking any product will wake up at any time in the morning on even local radio shows to sell their products....people don't watch him to be "ooooh influence me to make a decision this way or the other"....people watch him to be entertained...kind of like jim cramer....if someone comes on hawking their "its not my fault i'm stupid, i'm suing someone" book and imus says its a stupid book don't read it, people are still going to buy it because he has a big audience....

large audience does not = influential/relevant opinion.......flava flave and anna nicole had shows too

I give this whole deal another 48 hours. Everyone who could have possibly weighed in on this, at this point, has. There'll be a bump and a few protesters in two weeks when Imus comes back but this thing has just about run its course.

Jason's column was by far the best commentary on this ridiculous mess that I've read yet- and sums up what I've been screaming at the TV all week.

Here's hoping Fox News picks up on it and interviews him

I think there's a good chance CBS radio will keep him, but if not I doubt he will go the pay radio route. Unlike Stern, I don't think Imus is interested in the freedom to be more risque, especially now.

More likely he would go to a large station and rebuild his radio network through another syndicator. Regardless of what happens on the radio side, I think another cable outlet will be willing to simulcast. Most likely candidates "E", CMT or Spike.

I like Matt Drudge's astute observation that while Obama called for Imus to be fired, he just recently met with Ludacris privately to discuss some things. Drudge then linked to these lyrics...

Wonder if Obama will call for Jay-Z to drop "Luda" from Def Jam?

wow CBS way to cave under pressure. Try growing a pair.
CBS Chairman and CEO Les Moonves met with Reverends Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson on Thursday morning to discuss Imus' future with the company.
It's nice to know that CBS bascially considers these 2 to be co-chairmen of black people. :guntohead

its so true...there are more black people (that I know personally) with this opinion then not...its a shame no black leaders stand up to them...

Bill Cosby did say some things no so long ago and was shunned....I just don't understand

I understand the point and I think the majority of popular rap lyrics are repulsive and vulgar, however, if Ludercust had thrown the Rutgers women's basketball team into those lyrics perhaps the reaction would be different. Correct me if I'm wrong, but most rap lyrics just use the term "ho" in general terms and not directed at specific people.

IMHO, using it generally and repeatedly is what creates a pop culture where people like Imus think they can throw something like that out there. I think the general and repeated use is far worse than once instance where someone specific is mentioned.
