Cleaner, cheaper, better food.

I can get a meal with tax and tip for around $6.00 most of the time.

It's only cheaper until they come to the 'burg. The food tax here is killer.

I forgot dreamland bbq in b'ham alabama. I ate there last year when i was visiting b'ham with my roommate. It's a close second to georgia pig.

El Schorcho - What do you mean about the food tax? Where I come from prepared food is taxed at the same rate everything else is statewide. Is VA different? Does Lynchburg tax prepared food but rustburg doesn't? Or do you come from a state (NC?) without tax on prepared food?

I'm not quite sure what the actual rate is, but the food tax always makes you question your bill. I acutally got something at Burger King yesterday and I wondered why it was so much cheaper than usual. This thread has brought to my attention that I went to the BK on Timberlake, which is out of Lynchburg, as opposed to the one that I normally go to that is in Lynchburg. It really is a killer tax when you've only got $5 and you want a decent amount of food.

Food tax in Lynchburg is 11.5%. It's insane.

Only in Lynchburg can a meal go from 4.50 to 6 bucks by going a size up.

I had never even thought about the fact that it's only in the city limits. Why has that never occured to me? I'm never eating in the city again.

I don't blame you. Unfortunately, everywhere I go is in the city limits.

I did not realize the food tax was so much...no wonder taco bell is so expensive here compared to home...11.5% adds up pretty fast!

I guess I never really noticed the tax. For now on I'll keep that in mind when choosing where to eat. Good thing most of our favorites are out in the country.(Tea Room, Faria's, Briar Patch)

If that's where you're eating, I'd guess that sales tax is the least of your concerns. 8)

The T Room is definitely in the city. Assuming you mean The Texas Inn. I mean, it's sitting on the corner facing Main Street. :)

I think he means the Millstone Tea Room out in Sedalia. It's really good food from what I've heard.

Ah yes. I believe it has been mentioned on the board before. I don't get to eat out nearly as much now that I always bring the potential of a crying six month old with me.
