I don't think it would be unreasonable at all to place a non-Big South condition on any release given to Orukpe. I do think it would be wise to follow up with him and his coach, even if the chances of his coming to LU are slim. While it is true that recruits for the most part sign with a coaching staff more than a school, LU has a history with Julius, Peter and Kenneth which could still be useful in recruiting Nigeria in the future. I think we should maintain communication.

As far as bench players we wouldn't mind leaving, I've never seen Lamont play, but those who have say he has impressive athleticicm for a guy who goes 260. IMHO last year was a total waste of eligibility for Armon. We should have redshirted him if he wasn't going to see more PT than that. Armon has really good hands and post moves, but, well let's just say his deficiences have been pointed out before. If he doesn't make some significant progress, and soon, I would wonder if he might not be better off elsewhere. Who else would we not want to keep? Not BJ or Anthony for sure, and I for one do not think we have seen the best of Justin yet.

Classes were missed under RD's watch... but this is the way our program has worked the past few years. The beginning of the fall semester, we start doing class checks to scare the new players... Halfway through the season we do them again, after spring break (when our season is usually over) we do it again.... pretty much all the time thats not during the season. I think its because you dont want to see something that could hurt someone's PT. I will say i know Smitty missed class a few days ago and RM's new policy is if they miss class, they run, A LOT. He sends a coach to the schilling just to make them run, hmmmm Looks like we will have a lot of players in a lot better shape...

Any word from the insiders that LU will sign a 6 4 shooting guard from Kentucky? I remember hearing his name a while back who we were looking at. From what I hear he can flat out shoot. talking about players in class....I have a theology class with Brew and i don't think i saw him for like a week and a half (I could be wrong since I am half out of it during that class)...but I have noticed him there every class since coach got hired...so thats a good sign...but its nothing new that people haven't already said

Personally, I was a bit disappointed w/both the interview and the article. Nothing new that I could see. WE WANT THE POOP!! Interesting that RMK said they "couldn't reach" Orukpe. I understand the kid is in Nigeria, but it's Lagos, a HUGE city. He's not in a hut somewhere out in the jungle. Seems like either it isn't a high priority for them or something funny going on. Could be Sly, but with LU having a signed LOI it seems that his contact information should be on file somewhere other than DO's roladex or cellphone. If it isn't, well that is a bad reflection on how things were done under RD. Alexis was recruiting coordinator, and he remained an employee til RMK was hired. I would think he would have it.
