Congrats to Josh...

Oh, yeah, guy races to an incredible time and the beatnicks over on Letsrun.com are on the warpath again, complete with satirical photoshop drivel.

http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read. ... 076&page=0

Sly and Tally, I'm calling on you, dudes, to lob some passionate and rational defenses of our fellow flame (and our fine institution while you're at it) to those jack...er, knuckleheads over there. Gives some of the flamefans a place to post instead of just trading barbs among ourselves...(it's kind of like the little bro thing, one can joke on and give his sibling [institution] a hard time, but when someone else does it, wait a minute...)

Some of the more "enlightening" posts:
sdfasd wrote: This year will finally be Josh's break out track year. I call him for NCAA 10k champ!

p.s. I think the real reason he doesn't race well with competition is because he's stuck at Liberty all track season. It's basically home-schooling, those guys dont' get out very often to see the big boys race.

Oh, I forgot, 10K in residence learning and SACS accreditation equals homeschooling (and for the record a lot of homeschoolers can academically run circles around their counterparts) but I digress. I did like the retort in the thread about public schooling, though. Also, three consecutive years with a Flame representative on the National Junior XC Team, along with McDougal records in big name meets = not racing with the "big boys."
tonka tim wrote: All that talent, which moron coaches to help him squander it when it counts. That said, even his idiot coaches won't be able to ruin him enough to keep him from being NCAA 10k champ this year.
Even though the Big South isn't the most powerful conference in the NCAA, Tolsma's Track & Field Record in it is pretty impressive, along with assitants who have won national titles on the Junior National or NCAA level...hardly quantifies one as an "idiot," of course what do I know, I'm just a Flamefans poster. :dontgetit

quality control wrote: I like McDougal a lot, but he needs to get away from those whack jobs at Liberty. (PParker Editorial :blahblah)
Now, given, Tally and I disagree sometimes, but I don't think he is a whack job, and I certainly don't consider myself a whack job. How about you, Liberty alumnus, do you feel like or conduct yourself as a whack job these days?

Lydiard wrote: Also, I don't usually don't say anything negative about a runner (and this really isn't), but maybe his extreme religous views may cause him to not put the needed mental focus, because he would not want to glorify himself. It is very possible.
Really? Since when did reading the Bible and praying a bit become "extreme." I must have an outdated copy of Webster's up on my bookshelf. The illogic of this statement confounds me...:dontgetit

Also, apparently Josh owns the same mile PR as Chris Solinsky now (Solinksy was dominant in the National Indoor Championships this year and is considered one of the best of the NCAA harriers. Josh consistently has to contend with him in the major races...this bodes well for Josh come Championship time, provided he doesn't peak to early.)

Any idea how far SJ could run in 3:57? I guess it depends on whether or not he's carrying a watermellon. :P
