quite the difference in stadiums there. Jacksonville must mean that 5000 people can stand around the field and see the game, i dont even see any sort of bleachers, oh wait, off in the distance, if i squint. its like going to a jr high soccer game where you have to bring your own folding chair if you want a seat

these guys must be related to the boys at Presby, both teams quite capable in coming in and steamrolling our pathetic little league

In fact, Jacksonville fans here going further- heck, they're top 25 already and haven't played a down yet.

JU has beaten Coastal Carolina and Charleston Southern in the past and should compete very well with Gardner Webb this year. I believe that they offer 40 scholarships and I cannot imagine the talent that JU could bring in with that number. I truly believe that JU could be a Top 25 team in 1AA with only 40 Scholarships.
oh yeah: FCS!

Well, how about Stokes coming up the middle, closely followed by Rashad? Or Vince Redd coming off the edge?

Season starts when? :nod

Excellent recruiting tool: away trips to schools at beaches (we just don't tell them one's in NY and it'll be cold)

JU is an interesting place. Most people out of state figure it's large, public campus since it's in jax, but it's just the opposite. They have a realtively new athletic director in Alan Verlander (For those who know me, I'll give you one guess where he graduated from and where he used to work as assistant A.D. :D ) but the football program is less than 10 years old, if not younger. Recruiting as 1-AA in that area is a nightmare, with UF only an hour away and FSU two hours away. UCF is obviously nothing special, but they're 1A and only about 80-90 mins from jax also. Look for Verlander to exploit his Jacksonville Bolles connections as much as he can to help out that program.

There is plenty of talent in Florida to more than fill the rosters of all of the FBS & FCS schools with leftovers to fill everybody else's rosters in the SE. Up to this point, they've not had scholarships to entice decent talent. It appears that they are fixing that problem.

BTW Appy seems to do rather well in a more sparsely populated area with more nearby FBS schools than Jax challenging for players.

If Jax makes a serious commitment to football they could -- operative word, could -- make some noise. Their new coach is a former Gator QB and relatively successful high school coach. If they can get some financial commitments and some facility upgrades, they'll be a program to watch out for.

They need a stadium built on that relatively nice field pronto. But stadium building funds may be in short supply if they are adding scholies at the same time. My guess is this has been a subject of the discussions between JU and KK.

I do believe there's a very nice stadium right there in Jacksonville that's not being used on Saturdays.

Very impressed with the Press and Luxury boxes that Stony Brook has to offer...That would be the perfect for Williams stadium...I will have the teleconference available by around 2:45 this afternoon....

Imagine what USD would be with 40 scholarships, seeing that we have already been ranked in the top 25 with 0.

give 'em the trophy NOW, I suppose

According to Chris Lang in the Lynchburg paper, Stony Brook joined the BSC, but there was no mention of Jacksonville whatsoever. What's their story--are they joining us too, but at a later date? At least Jacksonville is in the SOUTH.

NOTHING on JU at this time.

evidently all a lot of message board speculation- but thats how it goes
QB Competition

We have some strong points (not many) but overall […]

Bowling Green

We need to play more physical. Lost that with JSU […]

Charlie Kirk

But all the comments are that he wasn't a leftist.[…]

The poor guy didn’t make it very long. :)
