'Sounds like Mrs. SCAR doesn't need that 150-200K that JB is offering these days. That's too bad.

Hey wait a minute, perhaps I spoke too soon   I would have to give up flamefans.com to coach and that is not worth all the money in the world...Ok guys don't let that compliment go to your collective heads. Really though, coaching is not my cup of tea as they say in Britain.

Scar would be a great Coach! I'm sure there would be some old players that would LOVE to get the pads on him again.

Speaking of Puerto Ricans...John D. Jones a Liberty grad ('89) has constructed a noteworthy college coaching resume over the last 12 years and has been affiliated with several championship programs:

Currently Head Coach at Nyack College - led this Christian college through the transition from NAIA to NCAA D-2 affiliation in one of the top D-2 leagues in the country. Has been there for 6 years. Only school in their 12-team league with no full scholarships, yet has achieved the post-season every year except 1, and top-4 finishes in 2 out of last 3 years, including a 20-win season in 2005.

Assistant head coach at Geneva College (NAIA) and won a national championship in 2001.

Only candidate mentioned who worked as an assistant coach for the ultra-successful Gregg Marshall at Winthrop winning a conference championship in '99 and getting a birth to the NCAA Tournament.

Liberty grad who was a former assistant for Liberty head coach Jeff Meyer for 2 years.

Has strong recruiting ties in the talent-rich New York City area and the Baltimore/Washington corridor.

Just throwing his name into the discussion...he is part of the LU basketball family and deserves a mention.

He sounds like he could be in that Stephon Leary mold: sounds like he's a very good up and coming coach, but just not quite there yet. If we hire a coach and he leaves in 3-4 years, then I could definitely see him in the mix.

'Just had this picture in my head of JB & JF reviewing Jones' portfolio and reading recommendation letters from Marshall & Meyer. That's pretty funny. :P

Soro wrote:Scar would be a great Coach! I'm sure there would be some old players that would LOVE to get the pads on him again.

Soro those drills where I had to use the pads to toughen you guys up were always choppy with you. I though I was gonna lose some teeth on more than one occasion. No one went through drills or practice as hard as you did. It was pretty intense....As far as Jones, I think he would be a great coach and has done a good job up at Nyack. We still talk all the time. He was our operations guy back when I was on staff at Liberty. He would love an opportunity to come in and get things headed in the right direction. I think both he and Leary would even come back as assistants if given the opportunity but I can't really speak for them. Jones was in town for the Alumni game but had to get back to NY to coach his team that weekend. He is in a few of my facebook pix from that weekend along with Kelvin Edwards (former Dallas Cowboy) and Dr. Falwell (Former LU Athletic director :o ) I Keed I Keed!

Ducket at USC is finished following yesterdays loss to Arkansas. Word is that John Cooper at Auburn may be the choice. Things should begin to move soon.
Talking to LU grad who mentioned David Conrady at UT Chattanooga. Associate Head Coach at Chattanooga. Had head coaching experience at the DII level. Went NCAA tournament at both Chattanooga and DII. Very active in his christian faith. Should be interesting the next few weeks.

I'd be very pleased with John Cooper. Experience at Oregon, USC and Auburn.... that's the type of pedigree we'd want moving forward. Obviously in his 6 years at USC he and JB have a relationship...

I'd also be pumped to get Duckett. Either of these men would be terrific for our program.

I saw where Anthony Solomon got fired at St. Bonaventure. I don't know much about his coaching experience, but I do know he played at UVa and was an assistant under Jeff Jones at UVa. I'm not sure of his background, but it could be worth looking into. I think we can get someone with a bigger profile, but anyone with strong ties to UVa (ala Rocco) could really boost enthusiasm and local recruiting.

Ouch. Not very good record as head coach.

Yeah, but that St. Bonaventure situation was an utter disaster. Solomon took over after the big scandal up there with the grade changes and what not, and they were way down on scholarships. They were even contemplating dropping the team. It's hard enough to recruit to Olean to begin with. Then you add in all of their NCAA issues, and Solomon was in a total lose-lose situation.

Scar, could never be head coached because he would be too busy dominating the scout team during intersquad scrimmages. You guys wouldn't believe me but Scar put up some unreal performances on scout team as he would play the other teams best player many times. Soro and I had to run quite often cause of Scar and his legitimate "HEAD" no pun intended fakes. :P

GOAT, believe me those skills are gone. I am working on getting them back. If you and Soro would have showed up for the alumni game you would know what I am talking about. Next year will be different. 6 weeks before the game, I will start training like Rocky so I will be redeeming myself....It was fun making you guys run 8). Me and Jason Allison were scout team all americans those years.

Baby steps, TD--next year, after 6 weeks of Rocky-like training, I'm just hoping Scar can elevate enough to touch the rim. :P
