Feel like I pulled my parachute too early this year! I got hyped for the season a month ago and now it just cant get here fast enough. Its the blend of new talent expectations and the unknown of how they fit that make the wait a tough one. This team just feels like it could be really good. Never felt better about the depth going into a season that wont be immediately tested by 4 ACL injuries ...in the WR room alone! The leadership surrounding this group seems be thriving with the absence of one player in particular. Chadwell has hinted at that in several pressers early in camp.

Biggest differences and similarities between 2023 and 2024 football season:

Differences:

Depth at WR, LB and in the secondary were strengths in '23. Weaknesses in '24

Team Chemistry. There was excitement from the jump in '23 that never waned. There were clear issue last year.

Injuries - No notable injuries in '23, that i can recall. '24 - 4 WR's were hampered for big chunks of the year (Copeland, Reese, Mobley, Sibley). Others that were hampered: Blue, Henderson, Hardy, Bodnar and it sounds like Amarion played on a bum leg for most of the year with no depth for him to be able to sit.

No replacement for CJ Daniels or Bedgood in the Offense. Just couldn't move the ball consistently.

'23 - Moxie. '24 no-moxie

Optimism for '25:

Commitment to the culture - seems to be an emphasis coming into camp and reality coming out of it.

Depth - Last year we had 1 QB and a huge drop off after. This year - it seems we have 3+ guys that are scheme fits, even more so than our #1 last year. We seem to have Depth everywhere...even at kicker! The only group that worries me is the O-Line which is the most important group for depth. IMO

Schedule...it sucks...but gives us a great chance at a 10+ win season.

Health - Sounds like Jenkins at TE is the only expected front liner dealing with an injury.

Granted Fan Day was just 1 practice. But it did seem that Vasko, Burger & Nerdinger were significantly better than Bradford & Houck. I, also thought Nerdinger looked better than Burger. But I was distracted a lot by the Mrs.

However, any insiders hearing anything on a possible kick-off time for the ODU game? Just trying to decide when to get a hotel room.

Hi all! I'm new to the boards here and will be traveling back to the mountain for the November game against Missouri State. One of my colleagues here in Pittsburgh is a Missouri State grad and is going to join me in traveling down for the game!! Questions for him regarding logistics as a visiting team fan:

1. Is there a parking lot for visiting team fans to tailgate?
2. If said visiting team tailgate lot exists, are they permitted to have alcohol at those parking lot tailgates?

So, it's official. Vasko is the starter.

I'm excited for him. He committed to Chadwell in Conway before Chadwell came to Lynchburg. He shouldered a lot of blame in a dysfunctional program last year, but I think he'll fit the system here well. He throws a nice deep ball, so I hope the WR room provides him the opportunity to push the ball down the field again.

HCJC's comments about the team's attitude and approach have been drastically more upbeat this year. Plenty of new faces, so I'm excited to see what the reset brings this year with a friendly conference schedule.

You know what I’m not excited about? My seats. The ones we’ve had for nearly 10 years were snatched by some interlopers. I even upped my FlamesClub level. Seems the more I give the worse my seats get.

So, if anyone was thinking 5 QBs was a lot, after 1 game it's 4, and that is certainly NOT too many, especially when 3 are FR or R-FR.

I hate this for Burger. Sounds like the coaches are doing all they can to make him feel engaged in the season and that is cool to hear.
On to things less important, this does give some clarity to the room now with a clear #1 in Vasko. Also, some hungry competition for who becomes the clear #2. Sounds like Merdinger had a great camp and throws with some serious zip but Bradford has been in the system longer than him.

I honestly think Houck is the future for us at the QB position, but I suspect they will redshirt him this year while hoping to get him into a couple of games.
