I’ve got a connection with an ACC school’s AD I’m going to ask some questions about $$$$ for MBB & Football and see how LU stacks up.
Wooley get 3 mil
McKneely get 2.5 was offered around 4 to go to Indiana.
They paid 3 kids around 3 million each.
Was told this wasn’t the revenue share money either. Thats separate would be getting the share also.
University was also looking to possibly work something out to have athletes have own insurance and not use the school for secondary insurance.
Also players are getting incentives let’s say make the finals of conference tournament. Make sweet 16, elite 8, final 4 and National championship.
I haven’t seen anything from schools like LU. It really should make these kids play harder. Also kid that tore his ACL at ACC school last year was wanting same amount and didn’t get close to it. Looking like a very ruthless business for young kids who don’t have a strong guidance from parents.
My question is with this money being paid like a 1099 without taxes withheld. Will these university help these kids figure this out. I’d say probably not and most will blow the money and either don’t file taxes and IRS come after them or borrow to pay taxes and most will not have a degree when they have exhausted the college years they have.
