There was not "one great big beautiful meeting" where all of this was announced. It appears certain now that there indeed have been multiple one on one meetings, with more to come no doubt, which is how this works. Not sure why you continue to double down on the term "told to leave"; words clearly chosen for their negative connotation, as though players were told "get the blank out of here" or even "sorry, but you need to leave". Since all of these players are currently enrolled students, none of them are leaving til they have completed the semester. Some will return in June, and a few will not.

I also am not at all sold on the idea that a player like Spell did not choose to transfer on his own accord. I certainly would if I were in his shoes.

Kai Yu is the 3rd to enter the portal.
All 3 of these were pretty predictable. In other words, no need for inside sources, even when not naming names.
Would not be shocked if there is one more, but this one would be a bit more controversial.

Old flame it sure seems like you will believe what you may and I really don’t care, apparently you have a problem of reading between the lines and that good also. But I’m telling you what I was told from a player inside the room on Saturday night. Take it for what it’s worth. I was told 3 culture players was told no spot or whatever you want to call it. One player has hired an agent and one player has a meeting.

Florida International now has 7 players in the portal.
I'm keeping a close eye on Kennesaw. They will do well to keep Wooley.

I expressed the same thing a few days ago. Sometimes big men take longer to develop, but we will have sooooo much more height/ length even without him, and much more athletic guys.

I wasn’t really counting on him for next year - more in the category of “hope.”

I think we could have a significantly better team next year (losing Ihnen this year probably cost us 2-3 wins).

As things stand now, depending on what happens with Peter and Maughmer, we have at least 2 and possibly as many as 4 roster spots to fill.

We reached out to Rob Martin from SEMO according to X

Do we know for sure know if Peter and Maughmer are pursuing another year of eligibility?

I've heard the term "culture players" bandied about. Some programs need to keep a couple of guys like that to balance off the Prima Dona superstars. That is not an issue here. We have a roster full of culture players.

Yes, per Jon Manson. They apparently are basing their petitions on a similar argument to the one that got Diego Pavia another year at Vandy.

Martin is a 5'10" PG who averaged 14.8ppg with 4.5 apg at SEMO this year. One year of eligibility remaining.

I think the fact that we have even "reached out" to another sub 6 foot guard pretty much puts the idea of Metheny returning to rest.

Any idea if they intend to use said eligibility at Liberty?

I believe that was (at least originally) the plan. I think Peter in particular has opened some eyes and may have other options, both NCAA and professional (overseas).

Do you not think LU coaching staff are reaching out to players with like a mass email system? Ive had college coaches reach out about kids that have entered the portal the last 2 years.

Do we have any coaches that may leave. This guy (Jason Williford) was in Seattle this weekend is this anything ? LU did take the last UVA assistant in Larry Mangino before Tony Bennett retired.

Ok. I think I can say with an extreme amount of certainty. They was a meeting and some was told to basically leave. Mostly what LU would consider culture kids. This is the norm in college basketball looks like even at Liberty. I also was just told another kid has enter the portal so looks like 4 now. With one that hired an agent and one still to have a meeting.

HCRM does have 1 on 1 meetings every 2 weeks. This one was different.

I'd like to insert this into our thinking and this has nothing to do with 3 guys going into the transfer portal.

Drake's coach left. McNeese State's coach left. VCU's coach left. Colorado State's coach left. Xavier's coach left. Ritchie stays and continues to stay.

I want to remind us that we have a great basketball coach at LU and in this age of college athletics we need more Ritchie McKay's. Thank you coach for you loyalty and your representation of KIng Jesus.

I think it's only a matter of time before Derrick Johnson starts getting HC offers (if he hasn't already).

This statement is the best LU Armchair coaching statement I’ve read since I started on this forum. LU killed it in the portal last year with the players HCRM brought in. I just hope and pray the players he brings in this year isn’t a cancer for the team and LU. It can happen!
