I’m not denying that there aren’t some talented guys down there, but 43 is like 1.25 players per roster. FCS (Div I-AA) is about 3 per team, which means the vast majority NFL rosters are built with top tier talent. It’s concerning to me that we are chasing guys at the DII level so early on.

Any buzz on transfers?? with as many in the portal...we have to be getting some looks but it is getting late in the game now. Rumor central is only bearing bad news...

It's not late in the game at all. We still have a whole other transfer period to get guys. For context according to On3 we had 19 guys transfer in last year and only 3 committed prior to January. Of the 16 others, 7 committed in January or February. The other 9 were April or later. There's also still 4 teams playing who's players have an opportunity to hit the portal after the CFP. I would love to have our full roster in place right now but we are way ahead compared to last year.

That is a good tidbit! Thanks for the context...still worried with what we will have to replace.

Reality is we are very rarely getting transfers that are already putting up big numbers at the FBS level. Those guys are heading to P4 schools. We have to settle for guys like Cooley that have had success in small sample sizes and hope it continues with more playing time. This WR seems like he could be a deep ball threat on the outside. Worst case scenario he provides more proven depth at a position where we always seem to be ravaged by injuries.

Career numbers seem underwhelming.
Quinton Cooley's career numbers were underwhelming and Aaron Bedgood's too. Even Elijah Canion's career numbers were almost non-existent but he finished second on the team this year in receiving yards and may have finished first if he hadn't gotten injured in the last couple games.

We also added a FCS grad transfer DB yesterday. He had solid stats at that level. We haven't lost much in the portal in that position group but you can never have too much depth so I like the pickup.

I'm cautiously optimistic about the way our defense is shaping up for next season. The D line is returning almost everyone and should be a strength for us. We are losing the most at Linebacker but that was probably our deepest room on defense last year and we added a couple P4 talents to the room so I don't believe there is a shortage of talent there. And on the back end I believe Reese is the only starter we're not returning. DB is where experience is most important on defense and we should have plenty of that returning.

I was already cautiously optimistic that our receivers we had coming back would improve with an off season to get healthier and stronger but I'm much more optimistic after these two pickups today. Jamari Person had a good season as a sophomore this season at Colorado st. His 36 receptions would've led the team and 386 receiving yards would've put him second behind Sibley.

Cain from UNLV has had much fewer receptions over his career (16) but hopefully he can turn into the much needed deep ball threat we need. He's averaging 21.9 yards per reception over his career. There should be good competition in that room this spring.

QB competition should be outstanding in spring practice! However it could be problematic trying to fairly evaluate 5 players. At least the coaches have a chance to see Burger and Bradford during the fall. It would be best, imho, if a clear winner emerges before the end of spring.

Good to see some WRs coming. This was our weakest area last season. Now, we've got to coach 'em up and keep them healthy.

The QB battle will be good. The winner may not emerge until 5 minutes before kickoff of season opener.

Nice to get them, but our WR room was only weak if you assumed none of them would recover fully from their injuries.
As far as QB is concerned, I'm all for competition in the Spring, but it would be way better if we had at least a front runner going into the Fall.

Picked up an experienced RB transfer from Towson. Stats were nearly identical to Lucas this season. Probably won't be our #1 back but should provide good depth. I'd still like to see us pickup another one. Depth might be an issue if Blue goes down with an injury.

I'm feeling much better about the offense after the last couple of days but OL and QB are still my biggest concerns. There's plenty of talent at QB but other than Burger everyone else is an underclassmen that probably still won't be ready to run the offense until 2026. We also lost a lot on an already suspect OL. Id like to see us add at least one more in addition to the 2 we already have coming in.

Someone said this on X, but I haven’t seen anything about him committing. Just saw some pics he posted in a uniform showing he had visited.
Are we back?
