He saw what kind of offensive line he was going to have next year and entered the portal at halftime

Unpopular opinion but I’m happy for the guys that played today. These dudes practiced every day all year long. Lots of them had no meaningful time until today. I think it’s a great opportunity to reward them for all the hard work they put in. No one should have had sky high expectations coming into this game. This didn’t hurt LU in any way whatsoever. I’m just glad some deep bench players got some game time. Good for them and i applaud their efforts

I agree, FWIW. This was exactly why I suggested that we not accept a bowl invite. It was a VERY poor/embarrassing showing for the university to the average person watching the game and not knowing the situation.
Yes, I understand a bowl situation is a great experience, but only this years freshman class is/was going to miss the experience. Might have made them hungrier to get to one in future years.
We didn't learn anything that we didn't already know about any of the players. Most importantly, that we have no QB and that we are very thin at every position, and have been all year.
I believe in Coach Chadwell 100% and that we are in good hands for the future.

I don't think the loss will hurt our brand much, if at all. Anyone who had a raised eyebrow when they saw the score could quickly discover the reason. The problem that needs to be addressed is the timing of the transfer portal relative to the bowl games. This is something the NCAA can fix if they have the stones (highly questionable). They need to make whatever changes are necessary to keep the rosters that played during the season as intact as possible for bowl games.

I don't think anyone takes bowl results seriously enough for it to really hurt or help the brand unless it's a major bowl or the CFP. Most fans understand that bowl games are pretty meaningless anyway but that's especially true when so many players are sitting out nowadays.

If anything playing a game at 10 AM on ESPN2 in front of a couple dozen fans on a golf course sand trap screams small time football to any casual fan watching and both programs deserve better. Moving the Bahamas bowl from the first bowl game to the last one was a good move but the bowl organizers needs to do a better job prepping the field and ESPN needs to find a better time slot for this game or start picking 6-6 G5 schools for this game.

Bahamas Bowl should be replaced by a new Bowl in a different venue, somewhere in the South.
There's nothing attractive about Bahamas Bowl, other than the warmer weather.

Considering all the players we were missing, our performance wasn't as bad as some proclaim. The turnovers were probably the difference

Might be a little early to say Burger is going to be the guy for next season. Buffalo had a premium defense this season. That combined with all the missing pieces post portal and pre-draft makes it hard to determine how well he could manage the offense over the course of a season. Notably Kaiden Salter in his last game as Flames, had a pretty rough day with an offense that was much better than this one Burger got to play in during the bowl. He clearly needs to be more intentional in the ball security area when he is running the ball. The fumbles were back breakers.

He didn't look comfortable out there. Not sure if if was jitters or if he hadn't fully recovered from the concussion. But that sand pit didn't help him nor did the inexperienced OL. I'm more concerned out his fumbles, but I do wonder how much the sand contributed to that. The sand appeared to mess with Hampton on at least 2 throws (pick 6 included). But I don't think the Bowl game will have much bearing on whether or not he's the starter in the fall.
