This is a huge and relative cheap investment for LU that just developed to be the Bama/GA of G5

https://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa-ends-limi ... %20gameday.

University direct NIL is obvious for LU or the few G5 cash rich schools.
Paying the $22 million back to athletes annually 2nd ( or 1st - depending on budget for #1 )
Unlimited on field coaches is a close 3rd and much cheaper instant impact.

And I just created a new LU category which is paying a small sum to former players at each position to be “mentors/advisors” to be a 411/911 call away or a weekly half hour scheduled zoom call for any type of support/encouragement to LU players dealing with any range of issues they don’t feel comfortable talking to coaches about. Make this part of Recruitment pitch to players coming in from all over -“ confidential counseling from former players”.

I say all of these things with the goal of getting LU out of current exiting “G5” status to whatever the next level is as quickly as possible...( still hate G5 ).

LU will remain in this situation because the leadership wants to. I know folks say we shouldn't "waste" because it wouldn't be a good idea. It's like folks forget that the school is non profit and has to spend. All this is for the claimed mission, so that is beneficial. It is what it is, but the gap between P4/G5 is near closing.

This is the first I'm seeing that the limit on assistants is gone. I wonder if this applies to recruiting as well. If so the days of having to balance having assistant coaches that specialize in recruiting or player development is essentially over. You can essentially have two coaches per position group. A veteran that primarily focuses on player development and an up and coming assistant that primarily focuses on recruiting. It's pretty common to see two assistants per position group in the NFL so it seems inevitable.

LU could be one of 3-5 of G5 schools to max out all the new advantages. The rest simply can’t afford to or a Rice - who simply won’t care to. Frankly, I think we are the only one who can max out all phases, but Memphis, USF just need to max out a couple to make a Power Conference. It isn’t about consistently winning CUSA, it’s about consistently getting to CFP and winning a game, then 2 and becoming a Utah/TCU/Cinci/UCF G5 success brand that can produce just enough National tv eyeballs and fill a 40k stadium and then afford to take a low percent rev share in Power Conference. That reality is not as absurd of a gain over next 5 years as LU making the Fiesta Bowl was 5 years ago. Do we have the leadership vision and support to pull the trigger ? The landscape is messy, control what you can control but max out your $ to gain every advantage...

SMU making some moves with their NIL - just stole 4 star TCU commit. No clue how accurate avg NIL is on On3 - but if LU added a zero - would be fun to watch the avg player ranking. No law says we can’t be top 10 NIL overall.

I get this, but the issue most casual fans have is there isn’t a source to reference with any type of accuracy when it comes to NIL. Maybe that’s a good thing overall, but I would love to know more about the details of what’s happening behind the scenes. Where does Liberty stand on NIL? What’s the plan with all the legal changes, etc.

I wonder if FOI requests will start to reveal details for public universities. Liberty may always be holding it close to the vest.

NIL and transfer portal will destroy college sports sooner, rather than later. I know of one Liberty athlete, who has never been in the transfer portal, yet this athlete has received at least 3 NIL offers from rogue schools/coaches. There's a lot of tampering and poaching happening.
I also know of an athlete who was being paid $100,000.00 at current school. This athlete was told there was between $500, 000 and 1 million to "be made" out of the portal.
