Reese Mooney redshirted this year. He came to us with the same amount of P5 offers and 247 ratings as Bradford and initially committed to Vanderbilt. Not sure where he fits in given he's also on the baseball team with Bryman Green.

Does Chadwell plug and play for a year to get one or both of the young QBs up to speed for the long term?

I just hope Salter leaving isn't the start of an exodus similar to Freeze leaving.

Thats gotta start factoring in when deciding on which QB to focus development on otherwise we will see a cycle of one and dones.
Maybe, but having a nice NIL trust fund for athletes will make it even easier to keep and obtain good players. The old way of college football is gone.
Ok, not sure why this is directed at this comment. I don’t feel like I’m in a place financially to start the trust fund you speak of.

Yeah, Mooney hasn’t had any reps yet. I assume he would have gotten some snaps in garbage time if he looked like the heir apparent.

Jayden Bradford looks legit and according to Coach Korn, he’s hungry and eager to learn. Between him and Mooney, you might have enough talent to win. We really will need our D to take 2 steps forward.

Sad to see Salter go. I’m sure he has offers from several P5s and is probably weighing his options. I was starting to hope that maybe he was happy with LU the longer the day dragged on without seeing this news. Oh well.

I agree though about Pavia. That kid has heart, and has shown he can win big games. I think he’s a step down in the passing game, but he would be a good stop gap to give Bradford his Redshirt year.

Kids transferring is just a reflection on society and how we haven't taught kids commitment, loyalty and being part of something bigger than yourself. Players these days just use football programs for selfish gains and stepping stones, it's all about what it does for them and now their pocket book. College football peaked in the 90's

Lol coaches have been leaving kids and schools high and dry for decades. It's about time the system catches up. Get out of here.

Fine. You’re right. And what’s your solution? You really think making them stay against their will or punishing them by forcing them to sit out a year if they do transfer is the best way?

Try to avoid being like the whiners who are also a blight on society. If you’re going to point out a problem, come with a solution!

These kids will transfer and it will either work out for the better, or it won’t. Kids will learn - sometimes the hard way - that selfish isn’t good, that the grass isn’t always greener, etc. I’m fine with letting them learn it the hard way. They’re free to be wrong.

Don’t be the one kicking him on the way out. He is still a Flame for life.
That's like saying your ex wife is your wife for life. Doesn't get to work like that
In your vows did you state to be faithful in your quest to find a better replacement of your spouse, every spring?
Coaches are constantly looking for players better than the ones they have. It’s how teams improve. You don’t think the defensive roster is going to get overhauled by the coaches looking for better players?
Finally it’s a 2 way street. And has 0 to do with marriage

With the depth and experience behind Salter (JB had several years in the program, Lowe was a NCAAF veteran, and even Hampton had a couple years of college under his belt), I think Mooney was designated for a redshirt and scout team duties pretty early on and there was no real reason to change that.

Even without a portal addition (I expect there will be), Mooney and Bradford are bringing quite a bit of raw talent. Hampton also came out of the spring as "most improved" and has some wheels. The in-house options are unknown quantities, but there's good potential.

Couldn't agree more with this. The kid did a lot for this program and easily could have sought greener pastures after the Great Revolving QB Carousel of 2022; wish him the best wherever he goes, both on and off the field.

I am confident the entrants today were not surprises for the staff. They won't be the only two, but, as mentioned, the portal is a two-way street and Liberty is carrying the momentum of a remarkable season and gaudy offensive stats. They've already locked up some significant talent and experience from the portal (Jackson, Brown, Hall, etc.) on the defensive side of the ball and an apparent Bedgood backfill in Lee. I'm not worried about the offense and look forward to seeing how the momentum of this year translates into finding some key skill pieces in the portal.

Salter would never see the field at a Ohio State like program

So a "what's good for the goose" is your argument? Can you tell me some scriptures that support that life motto?

I wouldn't react one way or another, I wouldn't talk to them or see them ever again and wouldn't give a darn what happened to them. Out of sight out of mind

Should coaches be given lifetime contracts and never be fired ? Cause those kids come to play for that coach. Why should the NCAA allow coaches to take other jobs in your world view?

You ask me for scripture to justify kids transferring to other schools and then drop this nugget???? Can you not see how unkind you are being?

I get being disappointed but you're taking that to a whole different level.

We've asked him these same questions for years and it breaks him. Now he has a partner in crime to justify this backwards thinking.
