If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

ACC schools should not have anything to do with Notre Dame. Don't even play them for non conference games, in any sport.

.
$50-$60 million per year would be on par with the SEC's reported $60 million per school in media rights and substantially more than the Big 12's $31.6 million.

Cal, Stanford and SMU get the short end of the stick but neither Cal nor Stanford can afford to be left behind in the conference realignment shuffle, while a move to a major conference is an opportunity SMU can't pass.
Question everything when you read “official articles” - the 50 - 60 million is additional revenue per year to be divided up by 14 current members and some sort of formula to ND, Cal & Stanford with SMU outright deferring. Stating that adding 3 teams bumps ACC from low $30 million to $60 million in revenue per team and on par with SEC is either ridiculous OR I am terrible at math and any basic comprehension.

I hate what's happening to this sport. It'll be interesting to see how AAC responds. With 13 football playing members I assume they will want to backfill with someone to return to an even number of teams. Hopefully that's us but I'm not holding my breath. I just hope if it's not us CUSA stays untouched, this conference is bad enough as is.

Can't be mad at SMU. They have the assets plus support to make that offer, and it seemed to have worked. I understand our situation, so we just have to deal with, or should I say be content, with what we have. Hopefully The prez will go full blitzkrieg (yes I said it) on the academic part in the next 3-5 years and some how LU may get into a conversation or two next realignment. As for the AAC, don't think the presidents of those schools wants us to be in that conference. We can say it's the tv market, but we are surrounded by very good markets. AAC would benefit coming into the DMV area. Anyways, CUSA it is!

Wouldn’t be shocked to see UConn football only AAC. Aresco went to law school there. I pulled up his bio to see if he and Ian have any type of connection and discovered that little nugget.

The dumbest decision in history of college sports. Stanford and Call teams will spend more time on east coast than west coast during season. Only one who benefits from this stupid decision is the airlines and bus companies.

Memphis, Rice, Tulsa and probably NT presidents would say no. They'd rather UTEP, shoot even KSU, than LU.

With SMU heading to the P4 I can't think of another school that can easily outspend us at the G5 level. We will likely have Washington state and Oregon state to compete against for the G5 CFP spot but they were glorified G5 schools that made friends with the right people 100 years ago anyway.

Lets see: UNLV, CSU, BSU, Air force, SDSU, San Jose St, and Hawaii (?). They could be the Pac 9; the CUSA of the Power 5

I do as well. The NCAA is obviously broken and on an unsustainable path.

For me at least, I am hoping that a successful Liberty campaign will help bring the joy of amateur athletics to the business of football.

Army potentially joining the AAC.

https://www.espn.com/college-football/s ... e-football

For me, the AAC is the best landing spot we can expect in the next decade. I’d say we need to open the wallet and make an SMU type offer.

I know there’s turmoil out west that could creep over, to the AAC, but that uncertainty could help us improve our situation, as other schools may be hesitant to make a move right now.

We’re likely stuck in C-USA for awhile but every door that potentially could open should be knocked on from now until we are in there AAC or better.

We're good man! All we need is to win the championship in CUSA, the lowest G5 conference btw, and we are clear for a playoff spot! Even though we stay in the conference for a decade or so, we'll be alright the eyes of college sports

For now. There’s talk the CFP will rethink expansion and format again now that realignment has changed so much. We may be out in the cold again depending on what they decide.

The judge granted Washington State and Oregon State a restraining order against the other schools. Unless the other schools appeal, it appears that they are free to attempt a reverse merger with the Mountain West. The next question is, are all Mountain West schools invited or just select schools. Either way, this latest round of realignment has killed the PAC-12, all that remains to be seen is if the Mountain West essentially rebrands or OSU/WSU join the Mountain West: https://www.yahoo.com/news/judge-rules- ... 17888.html

I'm curious if Washington state and Oregon state being added to a rebranded MWC or some variation of it would sweeten the pot enough for gonzaga to join. I know football is the driving force but adding an elite basketball program would be huge for the conference if they are trying to maintain the perception that they are a power conference. For gonzaga it seems to make a lot of sense. Playing Washington state and Oregon state regularly in conference play has to be much better than the WCC.

Washington State and Oregon State would do little to sweeten the pot for Gonzaga. The current MWC schools would sweeten it plenty. SDSU, Boise St., Utah St., Nevada, San Jose St., New Mexico - all in the MWC, all better than Washington State and all WAAAAAY better than Oregon State.

What you have to ask yourself is, Why isn’t Gonzaga in the mountain west for basketball already?

MWC already tried to add them about 5 years ago but was turned down because the WCC met all of Gonzagas demands and is about the same quality basketball conference nowadays. I assume the appeal of sharing a conference with the P5 school right down the road that refuses to play them will be enough to make them reevaluate though.

Wazzu is in the same TV market as Gonzaga (yeah, perhaps technically Tri-Cities) and doesn't even merit much attention locally in hoops. The Zags would lend more credibility to MWC than vice versa. But it is a marriage that makes much more sense today than just a few years ago.
