If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

I'm confident thousands of people in Georgia are sitting around waiting for the Owls to come on TV.
Same with Charlotte, but guess who is in the AAC...

Our potentially brief stay in CUSA has perhaps removed some of the stigma of a conference accepting us. It would be an easier sell to AAC administrators to bring us in from CUSA instead of the Indy status in he wake of CUSA & the Belt blowing us off a few years back.

Aa for CU, Coach Prime has to be giddy with recruiting access into both Texas and Florida. We will see if other dominoes start dropping now or if they fall in a more careful fashion over the next few weeks.

I'd be happy with both, but count me in for AAC. Would love to play teams like Temple, Navy, ECU, Memphis, and USF - not to mention building a real rivalry with ODU. Football, basketball, and baseball would all receive bumps, just like CUSA is a bit over ASUN. MWC will soon be raided so there will be more opportunity, but the quality of that conference will likely be on par with MAC and CUSA.

Liberty should not even acknowledge that the MWC exists. CUSA is much better. I never understood the love for a rivalry between Liberty and ODU. In my opinion ODU, regardless of what conference they are in, lies somewhere between the Big South Conference and Division III.

They are an in-state FBS school not named UVa or VPI. Study

Coach Prime is already stealing commitments from FSU, so the more the merrier  ! Glad you're doing well Sly!

We would be in a good geographic location with the AAC. We could be a good way for the AAC to get the D.C. market since LU has been receruiting quite well in the DMV area. We'd have better name brand schools to play as mentioned (Temple, ECU, Memphis) and great locations to travel to. Either way, if the dominoes did start to crumble, they'd be no actual movements until the 2024-2025 season. Lets see what our programs can do in CUSA for this season before we suggest to move  . Clearly throwing money is not a valid option especially with the AAC (of course CUSA was desperate).

I'll never understand the "pretend they don't exist thing." You want the MWC, B1G, and others to "not exist." Well, they make MILLIONS more in the MWC and HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS more in the B1G. I guarantee you ADIM knows them and talks to them regularly. CUSA isn't better than MWC, especially when half of our league was FCS 5-6 years ago. Name a CUSA school w/ better football traditio/history than Boise. Name a better CUSA basketball program than SDSU. There isn't one. CUSA is the bottom of the barrel right now, and that's ok. We're in a conference now, and we should make no assurances to that conference if a better one comes calling.

ODU is in-state, in a better conference, and is a strong recruiting area. That is all we need to know about building a rivalry!

I've heard that the Big XII is looking into Gonzaga as a non-football invite, so I would have to imagine ADIM is calling Yormark saying we'd take a football-only invite if they were handing one out! One could dream

I hope this is the case. I also wonder if the chadwell hire has eased some concerns that we were a one hit wonder under Hugh Freeze that would struggle once he left. Going out and hiring one of the top G5 coaches on the market should prove we will be a consistently competitive team from now on.

On field has zero to do with Realignment, unfortunately.

Have to step up academic funding and community outreach for sure.

Under no circumstances will you ever see the Huskers jumping tracks from the B1G money train.

Now that the Buffs have made the jump, it will be curious to see how much heat is placed on the rest of the league ... including prime jewels Oregon & Washington.

The Husker faithful were talking about a year ago or so. It’s their natural home. And I think their $$ donors are tired of being an after thought in the B1G whereas they have more tradition in the Big 12

Bret mcmurphy is about as reliable of a source as it gets in the CFB world so I assume that tweet will come true. That means a minimum of 2 G5s are about to move up (1 to pac 12, 1 to Big 12) and a maximum of 4 will move up (4 to pac 12). The most likely candidates are SDSU, SMU and Memphis. Colorado states name has also been thrown around as a fourth candidate for the pac 12. I don't see many scenarios where this helps us in realignment as things stand. MWC is likely to be hit the hardest and I'm afraid they will backfill with UTEP and NMSU forcing CUSA to add more FCS schools.

Big 12 isn’t going to need to add a G5. If they do, it will be UConn ( espn pushing for it - but presidents/AD’s not so much ). Then SDSU ( presidents would be ok with SDSU with ESPN blessing ).
PAC 12 - Tulane is out unless a certain President changes stance about not going further east than SMU. UNLV,SDSU,Colorado St., SMU are the 4 backfills. ( Boise not in the immediate picture ).

Bottom line - who are the top candidates to backfill SMU in AAC and where does LU stack up ? Clearly we don’t have the tv market they love. Honestly Can’t think of next best candidates for now, UConn isn’t going all sports. Buffalo ?

AAC purposefully added more teams in the last round of realignment so they wouldn't have to backfill. They will probably give select MWC schools a call to gauge interest but I don't think they would look to CUSA unless things drastically change.

There may be a scenario where SDSU, Fresno st, Colorado st, boise st, Air Force and UNLV join the pac 12 or AAC and that allows CUSA to pick up the scraps left over in MWC. That's one of the only scenario I can think of that would benefit us (kind of). CUSA already has UTEP/NMSU out west so creating a west division with MWC scraps plus those two teams wouldn't be insane.

I honestly think that we should and could be considered. We just had 28K students walk in graduation... Don't care about this TV market, but that starts making a difference - look at South Bend. We are willing to spend the money and have proven that we can compete in the major sports. Somebody will jump... Maybe the Big12?

VA or GA would fill in a natural gap in the map. UNT basically already plugged the Dallas area for SMU departure. ODU is better tv market as is GA ST. So what would put us over the top? ( I don’t see AAC going further west - but I didn’t see them adding Charlotte either ).
