Respect to Coach Green. I am not trying to disrespect him from he has done with mid-major conferences. He does deserve some rights to go out on his own. But LU now belongs to a G5 level. LU needs better athletes and they need to recruit well.

I really don't think you have a true idea of how Women's Basketball looks at this level... There are 10 top teams that get all the top talent - then there's everyone else. Green and staff have been creative over the years and have found talent in every corner of the world and have competed every year. Every year we are close or top of the league we are in. Heck we beat FGCU last year, when nobody gave us a chance. Once Green leaves - the next coach is already on his staff - anyone around the program knows this...

LU barely and luckily beat FGCU one game last season. Every game LU plays FGCU in the last 3-4 years they get blown away. FGCU is a mid-major and not a P5 or G5 school but they crack in the top 25 every year for the past 3-4 years because they recruit well and they have better athletes on the floor. This is my point. Coach Green competes well against low level D1 teams. But when they play a P5 or G5, they get blown away. Just because they recruit players around the world it does not mean those players are athletic enough to compete against higher competition. How does FGCU become successful the last few years?

For what it's worth FGCU has 3 wins in the NCAA tourney over the last 5 tournaments while CUSA hasn't had a single win since 2008 despite it being a significantly better conference from top to bottom. FGCU is just on another level right now. I say we wait and see how well we adjust to the new conference and go from there. I assume recruiting will improve across the board in CUSA.

I agree with the first half of this, but not necessarily the second. And no one plays closer to the vest than Ian. Time will tell…

FGCU has been at this level for much longer than 3-4 years. The portal has begun to spread talent around more. Smesko has been seeking out transfers loooong before the portal became the “in” thing. He’s always been a savant; now he’s getting athletes who are also high IQ to play for him. The uptick in athleticism has definitely propelled them higher.

CG’s teams have always been lesser athletic and more just BIGGER than everyone else they played. His best teams have been when the athleticism has been there and allowed to shine. It’s gotten better, but it’s not FGCU.

My assessment exactly. FGCU’s coach has been recruiting well. FGCU have been destroying LU in the last 3-4 years because LU’s players cannot keep up with the athleticism. My point all along was LU need a coach that can influence great players to come to Lynchburg.

One was mentioned and here's another one:

Also the topic before is still connected with the topic based on recruiting and if we may need a "refreshment" in a head coach since we are headed into CUSA. This isn't the ASUN or Big South; can't just cruise by and remain at the top. With the only challenging opponent in the ASUN (FGCU), we only beat them once. Just once. That's mediocre, but that seem to be good enough apparently. That's not going to fly playing against the Lady Techers, Blue Raiders and even the Tops.

Shun’teria Anumele, Brookshire Royal Jr. PG

The District 25-4A MVP averaged 24.8 points, 5.7 assists and 5.8 rebounds per game for the Falcons. Garnered 5 Division I offers the last two months of the season, the most recent were Southern Illiniois and UTEP.

This is my whole point all along. Some people cannot see the huge difference between ASUN/ Big South and the G5 conferences. LU needs a coach that can bring in better athletes to compete.

Claudia Acin, a point guard from Girona, Spain, has signed a national letter of intent to attend Liberty University for the 2023-24 academic year.

Acin, who has gained valuable experience playing for Basquet Girona, is the sixth member of the Lady Flames’ incoming freshman class. Liberty’s other five freshmen include three guards from the United States (Asia Boone, Brooke Moore and Ella Wigal) and a pair of Iceland natives (Elisabeth Aegisdottir and Emma Hjordisardottir).

Claudia Acin (G, 5-8, Girona, Spain)
Acin, who graduated from Les Alzines in Girona, was named the Catalonia U18 League MVP for the 2022-23 season.

Another great option would be recruiting internationally if the LU coach Green cannot get the great players in the US. Hopefully, these European players can compete at a high level.

I have been paying attention. What I said was, I hope the players from Europe can compete with higher level players. Just because they recruit from Europe, it did not always mean the players from there have been competitive against top competition. As a matter of fact, they have been less athletic and could not keep up in defense against the more athletic opponents. Again, LU is competing in G5 level. This will not be ASUN or Big South.

If you can only mention 2 players from Europe that you considered good, then it is sad. Now, to my point. I was there during Elena’s time with LU and the Big South. Key words, “Big South Conference”. Elena and the twins were a very good player and nearly dominated every opponents in the Big South. However, when they play outside the Big South and better opponents, they could not win. They played weak opponents to boost their records. You and some of the people here, do not understand the different levels of competition in college sports. Just because one player looks great in a weaker conference, it does not translate against better opponents.

Let the record show that I covered a couple of LU alumni from Europe who played in the WNBA back in the day. Elena & Jelena just we’re the obvious two that jumped to mind. There is basketball talent on every continent aside from Anartica. And US colleges remain attractive to international talent.
