I agree wholeheartedly. While we certainly didn't have the results any of us expected, I agree that they showed some heart down the stretch.

There most certainly will be a bunch of new faces next season. But I'm proud of these guys didn't show any quit this year.

Gracias

I dunno Sly I think you'd agree that we could see this one coming with losing the members we lost

With that said, at least we got one of our biggest "Upsets" in our history....

Winthrop was a big win last week for sure considering perceptions about the 2 teams but I have said it all year long that Liberty was not that far behind the best teams in the Conference. They were just missing small but key ingredients to close out games. Winthrop to me is no better than they were last season. A steady team that knows how to win and has a lot of different guys that you have to prepare for. They overwhelmed us last night but last season it took an OT win down there and we had the shot to win in regulation. This season we beat them. Our team has a lot of improvement to make for sure but it is not so daughting of a task as our record would indicate. Some really good things happened this year on the court for some individuals. I thought Rell Porter's effort and improvement over last year were significant. He may not score 20 a game but I am telling you he is as valuable a guy that there is in the program. Rish really came on strong and we saw some maturity on the court in some areas of his game the last 10 games or so. I think both of those guys will be better next year. Damien Hubbard will be good next year not having to shoulder the responsibilities of running a team for stretches of the game. He is more comfortable at the 3 IMO. I think Doug Stewart was not ever comfortable playing the 4 or 5 position because he is more of a finese player. He has skills with the basketball as a wing player. I hope we have the luxury of playing him as a wing next year more. This staff knows what is best for the players and I am not second guessing them in any way. I just know Doug pretty well and I know he loves playing on the perimeter a lot more than inside. That said though he tried to do what was asked of him to the best of his ability. I was not around this team as much as in the past but I will say that they had a remarkably positve attitude about their situation considering how tough it is to play for a team that does'nt win a lot. I refuse to call this a "losing" team. They showed a lot of class and a lot of heart taking the court and playing hard every night. Looking forward to seeing next year's iteration of Liberty Men's Basketball! Good luck to coach Dunton and his staff and thanks for the effort and hard work this season!

If we step back and act philosophically, we can take heart in saying that our team didn't have it this year,
but they still competed in a way that made us proud; and while there was evaluation, there was never
a lot of negative "finger-pointing." A great staff and a great team with character, but a team that needs to be
strengthened in order to compete at this level. It's not intramurals, and no one has an inherent right to
playing time. So, here we go for next year!

Thank you, Flames Christian gentlemen.

And BTW (I love those initials... or whatever you experts call them) thanks to all of you on this board. Sly and the leaders, Chris and the pros, SCAR and the "insighters... and "insiders" as well) and the others who are so committed to Flames athletics.
Also, it's enjoyable and interesting to read the comments of Eagles Fan.

Hard to start listing... I'm thinking of PA, HMO, and all the rest.

Thank you guys as well.

Its been real and it's been fun....it just hasnt been real fun....

no but really guys we could see this coming, and that's OK...next year is our true test, everyone knows we don't have the talent we need on this team, but next year we should be duking it out with the HP's and WU's...and I am confident that we will be.....

GRM and others...dont leave this board to far during the off season...b/c we plan on updating it with any news of recruits and other news....next year isnt to far away!

GRM,

this board is great because of the people on it. You mentioned a few but lets not forget about your contribution too. You know RD well and have some insight as well. No one has a post count like Medic and Sly but Smoothie and others try to compete that is for sure. I feel like we are signing off or something but trust me, I will be around as long as the integrity of the board remains intact. FSN, V88, Vegas14, RedDog, Coach D, FormerPlayer, GOAT, Sportscritic, LUConn, JCMason, Eddantes, and all the rest ofyou guys make this board fun. Can't forget givemethemic (although sometimes I want to...Kidding of course). OK, those are my shout outs! Don't know why I just did it but there they are. I did get some on the air this year too. Maybe next season I will give more of you guys some love as this board continues to grow!

I guess it was just an ego thing and I wanted mine to be fed...keep in mind, not everyone had a monster dunk on ETSU's JV team that people still talk about

kudos to LB for not giving up early this year and pushing the rest of the guys as well- thats leadership.

and thanks to Coach for jumping in here and standing up for his program and above all, his guys. Whether anyone agrees w/ him or not- he didn't have to do that, and I appreciated it.

You guys make it seem like this board is going to an off-season. This will not be so. Discussion boards are always a great place for recruit info and keeping in touch with the athletic department while there aren't any games. Like Scar said, I'm not a big baseball fan either, but I will still drop by on a daily basis to see what is going on in Flames Athletics.

I have had a great time this year with the proboard site, and now over here at flamefans. It has been my pleasure to get to meet a few of you, and I hope to meet more of you in the future. These 4 years here as a student have flown by, and I have had a great time and made many memories with Flames Athletics (the homecoming fb game vs. vmi, the big south tourny that was all held here, the big south championship, and the upset of Winthrop of just a week ago.) I know there will be many more memories to be made.

For the MBB team, I have to let Coach D know that I am behind him 100% going into the offseason, and I whole-heartedly trust him to get this program back where it should be. There can not be enough said about Larry Blair. Coach has said several times about him being the consumate teammate which he has become. I have only been following Flames basketball for the past 4 years, but Larry has to go down as one of the greatest players in school history as good as he has been. With LB, Anthony, Damien, and Rell we have a solid core coming back next year. With the hopeful additions of Brew, Alex, and others we will be back competing for a Big South title next year.

God bless!

Go Flames!

Yes, it should be noted that while MBB may be in the offseason, there are many other sports actively competing and very succesfully. Also, fall teams are amping up already- and if all else fails, we "old hags" still be here yapping at each other and attempting to reclaim our lost youth (as I'm told I am)

Spring Signing Period is shaping up to be very interesting for us and summertime on campus often gives us our best impressions of the new guys. Just look back on the old board for reference.

Since we are giving thanks, this would be a great opportunity for RD to host a lunch to thank all of us for caring enough about LUBB to spend time on this board. He could take us out to lunch, that way he would be able to have his "sit downs" with his detractors, and reward the others for their loyalty, kool aid drinking, whatever.
I vote for Crown Sterling..................oh wait, guess not. :o How about Texas Steakhouse........oops can't go their either. Hmmm..........
