A staff member told me they would rather play VMI than UNCA. I believe LU matches up better with the athletic, up and down teams in the conference. UNCA would have slowed it down and that really does not suit LU well.. As dangerous as VMI is, I think LU at home and playing strong right now will prevail in this one.

By the way, you gotta love how the Big South's official tournament bracket has Charleston Southern playing both Winthrop and High Point on Tuesday night. (Maybe the members of the JV team will see a few minutes)...

And, when did the Big South decide to play all semi-final games at the home of the reg. season champ? That's pretty dumb, unless they had to give ESPN advance notice as to where a game would be played for them to have time to set up and televise it.

they did that because of TV reasons. ESPNU wanted to show both games so they needed it to be at the same venue. I am fine with this format. It definitely works in favor of the Flames for a couple of reasons: 1st because we get to play the #2 seed on a neutral court instead of at their place. 2nd, if we make it to the championship game, we won't have to travel. We will already be there unless Winthrop loses in which case we get to come home for the finals. 1st things 1st though, go get VMI!

Last year was the same way. WU played High Point in Rock Hill in the semis, then Coastal and CSU played each other immediately afterwards in the Winthrop Coliseum.

They are probably confused because we haven't made the semis since '04. We had no need to know what happened in the semis.

So, if the semis are @WU, then High Point will not have a home court advantage over LU in the semis. The game will be played on a nuetral site. Thus, there is no meaningful advantage between the second and third seeds.

LU just secured the three seed on Saturday. Before CCU fell at home to UNCA, it was widely thought that LU was going to be a 4 or 5 seed, with LU playing @WU in the semis as the best case scenario.

Before the CCU game, we were saying we needed that game badly because it would almost lock up 3rd place and no Winthrop til the finals.

I must admit I was not aware of the format change last year, but like others have said we had no reason to know it had change either.

does anybody know if we can watch our game on "the edge" after the fact?? I am working Tuesday Night and would like to watch it as if I hadn't missed it, so I was just curious of if they put the games up for streaming after they were played in an archives section???

Really? I'd think you'd actually have to attempt to play defense in your backcourt to be considered the worst.

We did force a boatload of turnovers last time; give us credit for that.

I can understand why LU's coaches would like the physical matchup with us, but I'm not sure why they're so ready to run like deer all night at the beginning of a tournament.
