If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

Not suggesting they should be invited soon, but us getting in C USA might open the door for other young private schools to play FBS football.

If another FCS is invited Kennesaw might be the one you're looking for.

It has been clear for a long time that KSU has FBS ambitions, and they are probably one of the better options C-USA has. I'm trying to figure out from your post if you are somehow under the impression they are a private school, which would be incorrect. Losing KSU, along with JSU, would be a significant blow to the ASUN's football aspirations, but they have other options.

I don't think Kennesaw State has FBS facilities. Their football stadium looks like a high school field if my memory is correct.
I believe KSU runs the triple option offense. That alone should keep them out of FBS

So, who’s ready for Bowling Green’s road trips to ... Bowling Green?

Or Toledo’s honky-tonkin visits to Nashville?

Or the two rivals reuniting in the same division?

I don’t know about you, but I can wait.

At least until 2023, which according to reports — including from our Kyle Rowland — is when the Mid-American Conference is expected to welcome aboard Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee State.

Am I the only one that thinks it seems very 1960s-ish to have "State" in the name of the school when the word in front of it is not an actual state? i.e. - Kennesaw, Sam Houston, Jacksonville? I realize it was a thing 50-60 years ago, but it feels like this is nomenclature that should go the way of "Normal School" or "Teachers College".

Just an admittedly petty thought. Somehow Kennesaw University sounds like a 100% improvement over KSU (and same with the others). I mean it kind of has a Sewanee ring to it.

Conversely, imagine Clemson State, Purdue State and Auburn State.

Good news. If MTSU and WKU stay this is a much better pill to swallow

I’d greatly prefer that both WKU and MTSU stay. If so, you’d have 9 football teams and you could do an 8 game conference schedule - which would allow teams to kind of “choose your own adventure” with 4 out of conference games. LU can try to schedule P5s, the FCS call ups can schedule FCS teams if they want to, etc. I’d prefer keeping a low number of teams in order to limit the number of FCS call ups needed. Then, backfill with non-football schools in order to ease the travel a bit and satisfy minimum team numbers for different sports.

If either or both leave, I’d only backfill with the minimum number of FCS call ups needed. You really don’t want to water down football any more than you absolutely have to. If you only have 8 teams, I guess you’d only have a 7 game conference slate and now you could do 5 OoC games. If other teams leave down the line, only add teams as needed (I just really don’t think it’s a good idea to have 4 or 5 FCS teams all transitioning at the same time)
