Are we going to ignore that they only had 284 yards of total offense and almost all of it came when we were up big? Ole miss will likely run all over us but it's not because we gave up rushing yards in garbage time against umass.
They had 117 rushing yards at the 14 minute mark of the second quarter. 94 yards at the end of 1.

AUBURN, Ala. – Matt Corral’s ankle twisted and threatened to betray him.

The Ole Miss quarterback heard a pop, after which, he couldn’t feel his ankle for about five minutes.

“I thought the way he came off that it was really bad,” Rebels coach Lane Kiffin said. “Like, broken.”

But after an X-ray showed no break, Corral returned on Ole Miss’ ensuing possession Saturday night.

“I told them, if nothing was broken, then I was going back in,” Corral said.

No made-for-Disney moment ensued, though. Corral’s heroics ended with his return from injury.

Interesting game. Malik will watch tape on his former team as he prepares. Ole Miss guys, Freeze and Austin have deep sentiments for this game, I'm sure.
Sounds like a 3-3-5 stack. Oh boyyyyyy!

Still this is a very good Ole miss team, if we were to somehow pull off a win it can only help recruiting and our perception.
Well, that's mostly true and fairly obvious. Where I disagree is if Ole Miss would have won last week and we didn't lose to UL Monroe this would have been a monster matchup. It would mean we'd have a shot of knocking off a top 10 team and become ranked. I think we would have received much more credit for the win and Ole Miss would have remained top 25. It would have been the biggest win in program history in that hypothetical.

Obviously Ole Miss is still very good and it would be a major win for us. It still is super important. I'll be as pumped as anyone if we somehow win the game. I just can't shake the feeling that this could have been a much bigger game.

I know this is a personal issue. It's not good to live in "what if" land, but I'm there right now. I'll snap out of it eventually.

I respect that, Kricket.

As it stands, this is only a big game if LU wins. Going in, doesn’t feel like that big of a game.

Wonder if that signifies Corral may not play

Good thought. I bet there is something up with that. I hope he does play, to be honest.
That’s the only thing I can think of to drop the spread. Their back up QB looked less than impressive

Knowing Ballcoach, this has to be a softball reference. :oldhag

With the strength of the Ole Miss schedule and the gauntlet of the SEC week in and week out, maybe Lane Kiffin feels it would be best to rest his QB with a non-SEC opponent, get the “easy win” without exposing his QB to further injury. The kid is clearly banged up after his last two games.

Why would Ole Miss / Kiffen look at LU as a circled game? I get the Freeze return storyline but coaches are great at minimizing ancillary factors. With A&M and Miss. State left on their dance card, we do not garner that much respect, being out of conference. We are to UM as ULM was to us.
Good reason the line is down to 9.5 . Some players are resting for games that move their needle.

I’m sure Freeze will have a great scheme going in. I’m sure it’s really important to him that Liberty shows well. As he stated today, he is still friends with and knows a lot of people there. I bet he’s been game planning this one for weeks.

Biggest concern I have is can the OL hold off the DL from Ole Miss. That’s usually the biggest difference when you step up and play good SEC teams. If they play 6 db’s get ready for a lot of short throws underneath.

If my memory is correct, we are 3 plays away from being undefeated, since Willis took his first snap in a LU uniform.

You could change that headline to "Liberty must give Malik Willis more support ...." and it would still be very true. If our OL doesn't step up, this will be a long game for him.

Kiffin keeps injury information tight lipped but there is some buzz about several additional players out this week. They are already limited in skill position depth on offense but the concern from Ole Miss folks is some subtractions on D. Has to be a reason the line stands in single digits.

As an Ole Miss alum, I just got some tailgating information emailed to me from my alma mater. If any LU fans want to crash the Ole Miss tailgates, let me know! :)
