Their departure gives other teams an opportunity to be successful and win championships. You're right about that. The other three Power 5 conferences are talking, and they didn't include the Big 12. Either they need to invite four AAC teams looking to move up to Power 5 status - my vote is for SMU, Houston, UCF, and Cincinnati - or the individual schools are going to have to abandon ship and take the best deal they can get.

alabama24 wrote: ↑August 14th, 2021, 8:22 pmAs long as the NCAA maintains their A5 status, they are a Power 5 conference despite the loss of their flagship programs. They would have to revoke their status as an "autonomy conference" and I don't think they intend to do that.rmiller1959 wrote: ↑August 14th, 2021, 5:58 pm looking to move up to Power 5 statusIt doesn't matter who they invite; once this deal is finalized, the B12 is no longer a "power" anything.
alabama24 wrote: ↑August 14th, 2021, 8:22 pmAs I've said before based strictly off of on field success if the "little 8" added any 4 of BYU, Houston, Memphis, UCF and/or Cincinnati they would still be a better football conference top to bottom than the ACC and Pac 12.rmiller1959 wrote: ↑August 14th, 2021, 5:58 pm looking to move up to Power 5 statusIt doesn't matter who they invite; once this deal is finalized, the B12 is no longer a "power" anything.

ballcoach15 wrote: ↑August 15th, 2021, 11:34 am There's nothing to gain in this scheduling scenario, for any team, in either of the 3 conferences. If they want to improve schedules, play SEC schools. Who wants to see a UVA vs Illinois game, or a NC State vs Washington game ?Who? UVA, Illinois, NC State and Washington fans, same as with probably 9 out of 10 college football games. If you think it is even logistically possible for everyone in the FBS to schedule multiple games with SEC schools so that more people who are not part of their fan base will "want to see them", you are clueless.

alabama24 wrote: ↑August 15th, 2021, 2:20 pmWhat exactly does that mean? The guy who authored the 12 team format is the SEC Commish who wrote in 6 best conferences while also talking to OU TX. ( otherwise he could have said 5 best conferences ) As for Autonomy - that is probably coming for all conferences in a couple of months after the convention. . The Playoff doesn’t segment between P5 and G5 conferences - just 6 best conference ( highest rated ) and much has been written about losing the P5 G5 designation. Of course he felt solid about getting another 6 spots available for possible SEC teams but the real revenue is the extra SEC games and regular season value of OU TX tv revenue. It will be the other whiny conferences that try and squeeze out Big 12 ( or 6th auto bid ) and/ or limit number of conference teams allowed - not the SEC.rmiller1959 wrote: ↑August 14th, 2021, 9:05 pm As long as the NCAA maintains their A5 status, they are a Power 5 conference despite the loss of their flagship programs. I know there was much excitement about the expansion of the playoffs… but you don’t really think the SEC is going to add Texas and Oklahoma to allow other conferences easier paths to a championship, do you?
