Finally finished up the episode. I didn’t know the details of Prevo’s past but knew it was shady. Hadn’t heard the thing about the trucking company fraud but I’m not surprised one bit.

After listening to this, I’m even less hopeful anything will actually change. If it weren’t for the students and faculty being so great, I’d say burn it down.

Then add in Snyder partying with Jr, Borek's past, Vine's past, and Tim Lee's crazy tweets and you have one interesting BOT!

Based on that, LGBTQiPOC+?^£, I'm glad I didn't waste my time listening

It is disappointing they went that route because now there will be plenty who will completely dismiss the entire season and that is a shame. There is plenty of content there that should make any LU alum upset and demand institutional change.

I’ve dismissed everything from that episode on. And it is a shame I’m sure. There was plenty to work with and they squandered a great opportunity. The depth they could have gone into on some of the characters would have been eye opening, but they chose……a different path. Oh well. Good effort

I know they chose a different route than we would have liked but there really wasn't a whole lot to disagree with. But you guys stopped listening. That's been made clear. .

"...but you guys stopped listening..."

I'll tell ya what...I'm gonna try to get through the podcast...just cut it off at 10:36

So, far, it's pretty silly. Listening to a Calvin prof coming from a reformed-feminist position, I guess. I'm being told that I can dismiss historical facts about Vietnam. Apparently, this was really about "militant masculinity?" And the whole thing was just a "war on feminism and liberalism?" Weird analysis, to say the least. The certitude in her voice is kinda silly as well.

Then she moves on to...this guy Jerry Falwell Senior...apparently he is the worst expression of this God & country militancy. He pushed backed "in fear" against the true "feminist" Jesus of the Gospels?" He was out to erase the depiction of the "long flowing hair...feminist Jesus?" He wanted a "warrior model" comfortable attending "NRA meetings." We have Jerry Senior to thank for the horrid distortion that she calls, "the belligerent Christ depiction."

...are we really buying this stuff fellas?

Again, I'll try to get through it...but it's...strange...to say the least.

Ok...I made to 18:01...and now I'm done...unless someone can give me a reason to get back on...too boring...Trump...the "storming" of the Capital...and FalKirk..........yawn

...Oh...and I'm repeatedly being told that the movie "Braveheart" is bad. Hopefully Freeze & McKay refrain from using any references to this movie when the lead their teams into "battle." Can we say "battle?" It's just all sexism anyhow...right fellas?

Proud to say that I never listened to a second of it. I just did a little background check on the company and you guys have confirmed what I knew it would end up being. Sensationalized :BS :BS Not saying that we don't have many things to be ashamed of but not in such a platform. Besides, I bet 75% of the audience came from this board. 8) 8) An ant on the side of an elephant.

The first half of this episode was absolutely unneeded. It’s interesting once they get to the stuff about the board, but you have to wade through a bunch of irrelevant stuff to get there.

I think the front half was interesting - Jesus and John Wayne is a book I want to read - but I feel like it took away from the central theme of Liberty’s leadership being corrupt.

I see what you're saying, but the hard-line political presentation strikes at their credibility to a certain extent. It also means that they don't have to prove anything. If you're genuinely after the truth, you have to consider intent and motivation. We would do the same if Tim Lee decided to go full-on Tom Cruise ..."love it or leave it, Tommy!" And then claim to have special information about the inner sanctum of something he openly despises.

It’s like a default setting for some to be looking for any reason to dismiss any kind of criticism.

And then a pride in deliberately misunderstanding or choosing not to even try to understand.

The irony is that this same bent towards dismissing criticism and arrogant ignorance is exactly how the leadership at Liberty got us into this mess in the first place.

As you said, very Liberty.

C’mon, dude. Re-read your post below and tell me it’s not dripping in bad-faith assumptions and distortions. Obviously you’re not familiar with Dumez or her background but it’s clear you’ve already decided to dismiss anything she has to say.

The finale was a bit disappointing. It was like they had this random stuff and decided to give Dumez 15 minutes to ramble about how awful Evangelicals are by misconstruing some basic facts. Whatever.

The last half should have been the focus. It didn't really reveal much of anything that most of us on here didn't already know. But it certainly did a nice job summarizing the mess.

Prevo has to go. Yesterday.

The board needs to be cleaned out. Yesterday.

Tomorrow is the best place to start.

I don't post much, but I read nearly every day. Unfortunately, things are starting to sound a lot like many Deacon's meetings that I have attended where everyone finds fault with anything that is not their idea and those in power are all corrupt or ignorant. Kind of like a Dad in a Disney movie. There is a reason that there are 15 Baptist Churches in most cities of any size. Someone gives a job to someone they can trust and it's automatically "cronyism", someone doesn't like the way someone handles a situation and everyone has to to fired. The shortcomings of Jerry Jr are well documented and have been repeated ad nauseam. He's been dealt with, and rightly so. Pray for him and move on. Some here seem to want to magnify the damage he did to the reputation of the school and dig up any other trash they can find under the guise of "everyone needs to go so we can "fix it". I have yet to hear of the sinless, perfect people that they want to put in charge. I'm sure none of these "Popes" would have hired Coach Freeze or Ian if they had a say.
On the issue of faculty, we seem to hate tenure when professors at secular schools spout stupid stuff, but demand it at LU. Why should anyone have tenure? Do your job like anyone else outside of academe and you'll be fine. Perform or move on. Start spouting stuff contrary to company policy or doctrine or embarrass superiors and you get the boot like anyone else. That's not denigrating the faculty, that's just good policy. Don't like it, start your own school, or start your own business, or start your own Church like many self righteous Church members do. I personally don't side with the "LU as a distinctly Christian University is done" crowd. I have met too many students, staff and athletes that are not perfect, but they still try to continue the sanctification process that many on this board seem to have attained. I'm in this crowd. Hope it's ok to be in the Flames Club and buy season tickets. For months and months I've heard the "You don't know anything, you're on the outside" argument, but I'm here to tell you that there are enough factions and principalities trying to destroy all that is going on that is good on that mountain and the constant salivating over posting the warts and shortcomings on a daily basis from supposed "supporters" is disgusting and counter productive. I can handle all the customers in my business questioning the LU stuff hanging in my store and the "what's going on up there", but it sucks to hear it constantly from those who claim to be fans. Excuse me if I don't wade through the "irrelevant stuff " to get to the juicy stuff about the board on this podcast. I'm going to try to pray for them and be a little more positive.

She never once says the word “feminist” or “feminism”, yet she’s apparently coming from a “reformed-feminist position” and, also, apparently there’s a feminist Jesus that you’ve created out of thin air involved too. You’re also suggesting that a trained historian and history professor is telling you to “dismiss historical facts.” The assumption is that the historian who has spent 15 years researching this topic knows less about it than you.

If you are serious about engaging the topic, read her book. It’s well-researched, well-sourced, and is compelling in its conclusions.

Yeah, that is the thing. I didn't agree with some of their takes politically, over generalizations of my faith and some things said about Sr. With that said, a lot of fhe episodes contained a lot of info that just helped confirm how little we should trust the current leadership.

Like you said, Prevo and the board have to go.

But it won't happen because too many people are blinded and decide to focus more on the things they disagreed with in a podcast than actually put any kind of pressure on our school.

All you have to do is venture out on other Liberty online communities to see how much they have embraced Prevo or worse, how they'd welcome Jr back.
