Anybody watching the newest edition of the amazing race? I have seen bits and pieces of this show in the past, but have vowed to watch the entire show this year. There are definatley some interesting characters so far. The gay couples have to go soon, they are driving me crazy.

They also went to Quito, Ecuador. The place looked beutiful. It is a place I have always wanted to visit.

That's funny! Who did you/would you team with? Wives/girlfriends? I feel that you need some sort of gimick to be able to pull it off. What is the application/try out process like? Is it just an application with a video?

My wife & I have been into Amazing Race since Season One when Team Guido became the arch-villains that others have tried to emulate ever since. Its actually fun seeing them back in the All-Star arrangement.

They made some odd choices for who they would bring back. There were other teams I would've chosen first for pure entertainment value. But bringing back the two bald dudes from Brooklyn was great. I'm guessing some of the folks probably weren't down with another run of having all of their flaws exposed on national television. And I'm guessing more than a few of the couples probably didn't like what they saw in their significant other under the duress of the competition.

Mrs. Sly & I have said for years that this would be the only reality show we'd have any interest in being a part of. I'm a big travel/geography guy and Mrs. Sly may be the most competitive woman on the planet. But I've always had restrictions at my stations that kept me from applying for these deals and Mrs. Sly has had her hands full delivering three kits in our den. But just last night we mentioned that maybe now is the time for us to apply. I think we could sell certain aspects of ourselves that might catch the casting director's eye.

Its no coincidence that all of these other reality shows (save Survivor) have come and gone but the Amazing Race keeps plugging along with practically no pub.

Here's the only thing I don't like AR: All-Stars 2. Rob & Amber. I'm sick of 'em. I really liked them on the first all-stars race and they were the team I was pulling for. But, that was enough. To me, the Rob & Amber Get Married Special was that extra spoonful of sugar that ruined the whole iced tea. They had their shot and they blew it. Don't bring 'em back for more.

I tried out for the family one. My sister and I tried out. It was pretty cool, they had a big setup in Roanoke with a camera and stuff. One of my good friends made it to the final's though, he and his girlfriend...they had to keep it a big secret though but they got a free trip to somewhere for the final interview which is better than nothing.

I think for the next Amazing Race, they should do away with teams. Every man for himself sort of deal. It would add a new dimension, I think. Or start out with individuals and then randomly choose teams halfway through. Or start out with teams and split them up sometime during the race.
