Another lame season opening opponent. Should have expected that.

Good God I hope you don't whine about the 08 schedule. Knowing you, you will though.

I will do my whining now to get it over with so when I see the official schedule I won't fall over backwards. These games are not going to help our SOS ratings.

Who were we supposed to play instead?

The big-time schools either won't play us because we're still "little ole Liberty" and they have nothing to gain from it or they want too much of a payout.

The smaller FCS schools see our transfers and all that and don't want to play us.

We have to have a good season to prove to the bigger FCS schools that we're worth playing.

Bingo.

Games like Wake Forest (from last year) and with Toledo, this season, will go along way to getting the Liberty name out in the open. If we can start getting these games consistantly, the middle of the road FCS schools that we're a worthy opponent.

The 2008 schedule is almost final, especially with the rumors of Albany and Stony Brook still going.

If those rumors somehow come true for 2008, then our schedule for 2008 will be finished.

@ JMU

at Presby
at Coastal
at VMI
vs CSU
vs G-W

I thought that Youngstown State was in the mix for 2008.

They could very well be in the mix in one of the Albany/Stony Brook spots.

Is that the correct schedule in terms of home/away? If that's the case, starting 5/6 on the road would be misrable.

I think that there is one more team to go for 2007. Any chance of getting Albany or Stony Brook for next year. God forbid we get another div 2 team on.

If Albany and Stony Brook come into the conference, then we won't have any DIIs. Our schedule would be set except for dates (Lehigh's the opener in 08).

What is the chance of Albany and SB coming in. I would think that they are too far north to travel down here. I don't know too much about either one of these teams. I do know that Albany knocked off Delaware on the road. Not an easy thing to do. I don't have a clue about Stony Brook.

Stony Brook is on the northeastern side of Long Island. They beat Hofstra last year. Albany is in Albany (obviously) and beat Stony Brook and Delaware.

That is some big wins there (referring to wins over Delaware and Hofstra). Those teams must be doing something right.

Albany & Stony Brook would want to schedule the Big South schools whether they were formally in our league or not. Remember our independent days? I know, we all try to forget.

In all likelihood we will be travelling to either Stony Brook or Albany next year (possibly both depending on how they work out the schedules).

In my opinion, the 2008 schedule looks outstanding. If we win with that lineup then the playoffs are strong possibility. But we'd still have to earn it on the field.

And despite what the article in the Tennessee fishwrap mentioned, I seem to remeber we have played Tusculum in the past. Perhaps even several times. Anyone with a media guide handy care to check?

They are adding scholies and they are getting better every year. I'm telling you, if they are joining the Big South as football affiliates it will be a blessing. And no one has mentioned it, but LU has always had a ton of kids from upstate NY and this could be a real nice opportunity from both a recruiting and an alumni standpoint. I'll bet we draw quite a few fans in Albany much like we'll do well at Toledo with all of our Ohioans and Michiganders.

I know we played them and nearly lost to them in Men's basketball back in the Mel days but i don't recall playing them in football........someone with a media guide will no doubt check though.

I seem to remember it back in the Morgan Hout era. But I could be mistaken. I can't find a football media guide in my house right now.

I'm getting old, so that's why I asked. I just have this picture in my mind of us playing tham back in like '85 or '86. But I must've been thinking of someone else.

According to CFBDataWarehouse, (I can't find my guide, either) we played Southern Connecticut St. in both of those years. Maybe that's who you're thinking of.

SCSU was one of our primary opponents back then along with JMU and Towson State. Wow, I'm getting old.

ok. since tusculum was spilled, i will say the other game could be against a team from the D2 pennsylvania state athletic conference. for week 2, and north greenville is out now. they are being replaced with a team from the NEC tentatively.
