It would be nice if Coach would come out and squash these AU rumors once and for all. It is bowl week and we don't need the distraction.

The only ones who don’t need the distractions are the players and I’m sure he’s communicated with them.

Even if he came out and said he doesn't want to go to Auburn there will still be questions. That is the nature of the beast.

UT isnt the same when Freeze told his wife that he wanted to coach there. The decisions of that program is so sour that I'd be surprised if Freeze wanted to still go to the FSU of the SEC.

The more I talk to Knoxville friends the more I’m reminded how bad UT football is. The money people are all pulling different directions and keep trying to one up each other. It’d be a terrible situation for Freeze to walk into. I say that not to keep him here, but more for his sake.

So you agree with me  . Honestly, I believe Freeze knows this and that he'll get a shot at a better opportunity in a couple years or so for a better program. Also need to consider that some programs will not be the same financially in a couple or so years as well. Seems like the same situation that occurred a century or so. Like I said before, some schools may not be a top school in the near future like how the University of Tampa and Stetson was a century ago (more looking at known name than records).

My "sources" tell me that Coach Freeze will not be taking Auburn job.
Thanks to all, for your time and patience.
My "sources" have confirmed, HCHF will not take the UT job or AU job. He will coach LU at the Cure Bowl, return next year and put together one of the strongest teams we have seen in LU history, with one of the strongest recruiting classes. My sources...wait, phone call......

Okay, it is confirmed. He will stay through next year, where LU will once again achieve bowl eligibility and once again have another hallmark season. He will stay with LU through next year.

AL.com wrote:The Auburn search evaluated several options, including sitting head coaches and hot assistants like Alabama’s Steve Sarkisian, before zeroing in on a select group to interview. Auburn never seriously considered Liberty head coach Hugh Freeze despite reports linking him to the job. A subcommittee of Greene, Riggins and Auburn chief operating officer Lt. General Ron Burgess conducted the interviews which were primarily done over Zoom.

Interesting read. Could it be that Auburn has finally hired an AD with the stones to stand up to the boosters? At least this one time, it looks like that might be a yes.

Coach Freeze on the Finebaum show today!

Highlights
- Paul pointed out how Freeze has ten wins at every one of his college HC stops.
- Freeze points out how great of a win it was over a Top 10 Coastal team and how thankful he is for the players' effort.
- Paul asks Freeze if he expected such a season before it began, to which Freeze replied he did ask himself how he was going to get the team back to a bowl game.
- Freeze gently calls out CFP Committee while also congratulating Cincy, BYU, etc.
- Paul asks Freeze to talk about the competition we faced and address the difficulty people have acknowledging G5/Indy success. Freeze replies that he is a realist and that if Liberty played an SEC schedule we probably wouldn't have the same record, but that his gripe is when a non-P5 has a season of success it should be better recognized.
- Paul asks Freeze to discuss Alabama's offence this season. Freeze replies that he doesn't watch many teams on film because he's more focused on what we can do right, but that Alabama is one of the few teams he does watch film on on Sundays many times to learn and soak up their schemes. Continued to talk about how good the Alabama offense is.
- Paul brings up Freeze's status with Liberty. Freeze discusses the new incredible extension he was given and how great Liberty has been with supporting him and his family while also giving him what he needs to continue to grow. Reiterates his honesty with Liberty administration and players that nothing that would make his heart beat faster has come along, but if it did they'd be the first to know.
- Freeze talks about how he hates the firing aspect of the coaching profession.
- Paul asks him to look ahead. Freeze replies that it seems like everywhere he has gone he has won too much too fast which causes tough expectations. Discusses the importance of getting kids to believe they can win and perform fast. His goal now is to sustain the standard through a daily chase, which will be difficult for various reasons, including the schedules we have ahead of us.

couple of additions:
- on the "heart beat faster" discussion, he made a comment about there hasn't been a situation where the feelings were mutual - which seems to maybe indicate that he had interest in a job (first I heard him add that caveat)
- as to the the future, he did make a point that LU being successful will likely make scheduling difficult as an independent.

He also made a distinction that maybe I have not caught before? He said he was “offered” a very generous extension by LU. Never made mention of whether he had signed it or not. Paul picked up on this and mentioned it in his next segment.

I am of the same mind as everyone who has been saying that we need to enjoy the ride and not fret about whether he goes or not. However, I thought that parsing was interesting and wanted to mention it here. Perhaps it is just Sexton coaching him to wait on signing it until he has a chance to evaluate everything out there?

I don't know if Tenn. is getting rid of Pruitt or not but it does seem odd that they haven't replaced any coaches that have left yet. If they don't replace them soon it gives the appearance that Pruitt is gone. UT fans still hope to get Freeze

And if a change is made at Tenn. it will be at the end of the week. Just gossip but sometimes gossip holds some truth.
