Khalil Herbert only played shortly before sustaining a hamstring injury which was a big blow for them. Don't get me wrong, LU outplayed Tech, but injuries plaguing Tech certianly helped.
Do you argue with yourself? :)
Hahaha, funniest post of the year!

LIBERTY RELEASES DEPTH CHART FOR NC STATE GAME
By: Jon Manson

#21 Liberty (8-0) kept its win streak alive and national ranking in tact with a blowout win over FCS Western Carolina, 58-14. The Flames will take on the NC State Wolfpack this coming Saturday as Liberty looks to improve to 3-0 against ACC opponents this season. The Wolfpack are currently a 2.5 point favorite.

Liberty has released its updated depth chart for this game.

Perspective is hard to find with this season. This has been one of the greatest runs of a sports team in my 30+ years of fandom, in any category. Almost feels providential with the way teams parted the waters for us but I don't want to dive in that. To me, perspective will be fully formed in regards to how good this team is with how they show up against NC State. If we can win by more than 10 (convincingly), we truly do belong in a bigger conversation and are a legit top 20 team. 3-0 against the ACC with the ability to scheme against different challenges. The power of coaching and a hungry LU brand will be evident to a national audience. We may not belong in a New years 6 type conversation but those in the room where it happens will have to have LU on their radar.
Enjoy the moment!

Bunch of nervous nellies over there.
I just read all 12 pages on the NC State board. They are a pessimistic bunch. Most of them believe Liberty will win. They think Freeze will out-coach D.D. and our speed is superior.

Funny how they are saying if the Wolfpack beats Liberty, it will be a "signature win". LOL.

Would love to see Liberty win by double digits. Let's GOOOO!

Any chance the game gets moved to one of the ESPN major channels?
I see several games have been postponed for Saturday again and hope we can get more eyes on the LU brand.
This game has to be more intriguing than Navy - South Florida on the U at 7pm.

Agree 100%
Navy is 3-4 and South Florida is 1-7. Not an exciting matchup.
NC State is 5-3 and Liberty is 8-0. This has much more interesting appeal.
Let's hope our game gets put on a better channel.

NC State not taking this game lightly. Nice article on "The Malik Willis Show"...

http://www.technicianonline.com/sports/ ... b642b.html

"Willis’ style of play is very similar to Miami’s D’Eriq King, a quarterback that went off against the Wolfpack two weeks ago for 430 yards and five touchdowns through the air and 105 yards on the ground. It's safe to say if the NC State defense uses the same schemes against Willis, he could put up similar numbers."

I would LOVE it if Willis can put up those kinds of numbers vs. NC State. Would do a lot for his status and visibility.

Yes, Direct TV has it on @10 channels including MASN and all the regional channels. This is why I signed up for the "Sports Package" this year and will cancel after basketball season.

CRASH COURSE: NC STATE WOLFPACK
By: Brett Jones

The 8-0 Liberty Flames will travel to Raleigh on Saturday, Nov. 21 to take on the Wolfpack of NC State.

With a win, Liberty would improve to 3-0 against ACC opponents this season. A win likely won’t come easy, however, as NC State is arguably the best team that the Flames have faced this year. The Wolfpack, like Virginia Tech, are bigger, faster, stronger, and deeper than the Flames.

NC State is 4-3 this year. After eking past Wake Forest, the Wolfpack were blown out by Virginia Tech 45-24. After losing to Tech, NC State reeled off three straight wins over Pittsburgh, Virginia, and Duke before a field goal loss to Miami. Last week, NC State beat Florida State, 38-22

I am having a hard time reconciling this statement from HF with the fact that NC State defense gives up big yards and points.

THE NC STATE DEFENSIVE FRONT
“I think they are the best that we have faced at linebacker and at defensive front, as a unit. There may be a better rush guy here or a better player, but these guys are so physical and strong. Obviously, they are running a different type defense than you play against normally.”

NC State’s defensive unit ranks 97th in the nation in total defense, surrendering an average of 456 yards and 34 points per game.

Will NC State truly be the best defense we've faced all year? A defensive unit ranked 97th in the nation is the best we've faced? I'm having a hard time understanding what's true. Is HF patronizing the NC State defense so his guys don't take them lightly? Or is the 97th ranking somehow undeserved?

I believe in the Lou Holtz philosophy when talking about opponents. Regardless of the strength or weakness of an opponent, you always speak of them as if they are the best team you will face all year, or ever. No need to look past any opponent. The truth is, we are going to have to play our best game to date to win this game. GO FLAMES.

I don't know the numbers, but judging from scores, most everyone in ACC has had problems on defense. Several teams have scored over 40 .....................and lost, if my memory is correct.

This, plus I believe when HF talks up opposing players he isn't necessarily going by the team's stats, but what he sees on the video in terms of talent.

Well, even statistically speaking, Syracuse is ranked 104, Tech is 95, and NC State is 97th. A 97th ranked ACC team very well could be the best defense we've faced, which speaks to just how bad everyone we've played has been on that side.

The best statistic I have ever seen, is that statistics mean almost ZERO, especially for a single event. One of the laws of stats, is that you need 30 similar events to be statistically relevant. Yes, there are a few teams that lean very heavily on data and are successful. However, there are also, many times that they are absolutely useless. Just talk to some professional scouts, coaches, etc. The trades and changes that are not made, or don't work out, never get much press.
