Hello all. Congrats on your great season! Congrats on a huge win against VA Tech!!

Anyway, the BYU message board is alive right now with calls for BYU and Liberty to try and play a game this year.

BYU is currently ranked #9 and beat a #21 ranked Boise State last night. Liberty is ranked #25 and just took down VA Tech. Both schools in the top 25.

BYU needs 2 more games this year and Liberty needs 1 more game. A ranked game between the two on Thanksgiving Weekend would probably be on ESPN, and maybe even ABC.

Challenge is finding a date.... Liberty would need to move it's matchup against UMass to December so this could happen... Not sure if Liberty wants to do that. UMass might not mind it.

I am not a 100% sure LU needs another game. I doubt if anyone gets in 12 games this season.

Honestly - if LU ran the table and got ranked high enough to give you a boost for Playoff - and we lost by 21 or more - still would do it. Gives Indie more future credit - the entire nation would be tuned in - still good for Liberty. Doubt our HC and AD agree...However, if BYU were to commit to a long term neutral site like Dallas and make us a rivalry game in exchange for a favor this year...talk to your peeps.

From two separate sources in the FOC, this is why we didn't get a game this season. Neither team wanted to travel that far with the unknowns of covid. It sounded like both were interested in the idea but not willing to take the gamble with everything health wise going on.

I think most of the LU fan base would love to see a yearly. Not only in football but other sports as well.
Our Ad's hopefully are on this for the future.
A few years ago while at the Polynesian cultural center I met and spoke with a prof from BYU Aloha. We were still FCS but the common denominator of faith at that time led to great athletic discussions. I could not imagine speaking with him now.
However, are you guys really ready to have a solid loss on your schedule every year?

It’s 2020 so crazy can be realistic. This would be a good idea Everyone is playing in a nearly empty stadium so the lack of fans will seem normal. A Top 25 match up on Turkey Weekend would draw a lot of eyeballs. Even more because of the dearth of quality match ups that weekend. Normally this game wouldn’t move the needle but this year? It could be big. This series needs to happen every year regardless. Also, I might need an excuse to go to Dallas soon so....

This is an interesting conversation. Cinninnatti is one position ahead of BYU in AP poll. With remaining schedule, BYU is unlikely to leapfrog them. Assuming we continue to win, and BYU played and beat us they would likely leapfrog Cinninnatti to get G5 NYD bowl. On other hand, if we win out, we have BYU and Cinninatti in front of us and have no chance of G5 NYD bowl. However, if we win out and play and beat BYU we would have resume that could leapfrog Cinninnatti. I know, lots of ifs, ands & buts...but it does present an interesting senerio. Nice to be able to daydream.

Rich, I agree with you. We would be happy to host you in The Burg, sometime later this year. I believe that a game every year, regardless of venue would be good for both schools. WE are not in the same stratosphere as BYU........ yet. But hopefully we will, one day soon. Win out baby, win out.
