Ugly, ugly loss. After the game RD said that "the way games are officiated on the road", what does that mean? Does he think the refs favor the home team? I know most teams have a better record at home, but I also think that is because of the fan support in some cases, and players just feel better playing in their own building. Disappointing game, I was hoping we could get back on track after the tough game against Coastal and have a run in the tourney. Doesn't appear likely now.

Honestly, Randy always complains about the refs. That is getting real old.

Longwood has a quality opponent next: New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Who knows they may have the Fashion Institute of Florida or Albany Pharmacy left on their brutal schedule.

At least NJIT is in DI (or in transition)...though I must wonder why Longwood didn't join the United Basketball Conference, which was formed this year by all the other D-I indies that are having a hard time finding a conference (though NDSU, SDSU, and IPFW will all be in the Mid-Con soon).

As for Cincy Christian...only reason for playing them is it makes our W-L record look better, which in turn makes us look better than we really are.

ummmm WOW. Glad to know we played well enough to win if it wasn't for the pesky referees.

Now Im pretty sure NJIT is a legit D-I but if its there they have really nice acoustics so 2,000 actually sounds like 15,000 its a sweet place to watch b-ball

I was there, on the second row behind the bench, sitting even closer than Scar and the Mrs. (who arrived with 3:59 left in the first half). I have to say that I had never seen so many "blocked shots" in my life, because the refs weren't calling anything inside, and Longwood was hacking us to death in the paint, and when they did foul us, we couldn't hit a free throw.

It felt like we were playing in a high school gym, but a loss is still a loss, even though we beat them earlier in the year by almost 30 points.

Sure appreciate the "first hand" view and comments. Thank you. Extremely nice to be able to hear Jerry Edwards, but its nothing like being there.

Was there a reason to point out when Scar got there? Didn't think so.

Since JF wasn't there, Scar was the closest thing we had to a celebrity being there. Play Basketball

HPU lost at Longwood as well. Longwood's a hard place to play.

With that being said, I can't say I didn't see this coming.

We're in 4th place in conference. The team that is in 2nd place in our conference lost at Longwood as well.

Should we have won? No doubt about it, especially after beating them by 30+ earlier this year. Does it surprise me we lost? Not at all. Longwood is tough to play and I really thing Mack's shot completely deflating the team.

We got outrebounded by this team too......MAN, High Point is not as good as us either.....we are so much better than these guys, but we don't have the killer instinct nor are we disciplined......

To be a good team you have to win on the road

I got there at half time after I got off early and sat right behind our bench.
Our guys have no respect for Dunton. After every play he is yelling at them and they are either not listening or arguing back with him.
I can't speak for the first half but as far as the second half goes I thought it was sloppy. Dwight did a good job penetrating but nothing he put up went down for him and it was frustrating him.
Baker was yelling for coach to put Justin Holland in at one time.
It seemed like they just weren't in the game. A lot of them weren't even watching it when they sat on the bench they were just joking around with each other... not until the end when we tried to make a run to come back did they get into it.
I sat beside TJ Bannister... I told him not to let this happen next year and he promised me he wouldn't.

i was at the game about 8 rows up from our bench...the refs were pretty bad, but there is still absolutly no excuse for us to lose to this team...our defensive gameplan made no sense at all to me. On a lighter note, Dwight had a dunk in the last minute of the game that was flat out nasty.

A few notes:

* You'll never hear me moan about officiating, but holy hell, they were awful tonight, all the way around. The game was extremely physical, especially inside, and there was one foul called in the first 10 minutes. Neither team had any idea how physical they could be. The refs started to tighten things up in the second half, after allowing a full-blown melee in the first half, so of course, both teams were nailed with fouls. Truly embarrassing show by the men in stripes tonight.

* To answer ATrain's question: When I talked to Gillian in November, I asked him about the UBC thing, and he said Longwood didn't want any part of it. The Lancers don't have any problems filling out a schedule, like some of the other independents do. And they didn't want to be forced into having to travel to the two Dakota schools, Utah Valley State and Texas-Pan American every year.

* Really poor offensive execution on Liberty's part tonight. Way too much one-on-one basketball, from Brewington and Blair both. Anthony Smith was still in a funk from the Coastal game. He never got going.

* And NJIT is DI transitional, just like Longwood.
