When I read 10 mil, I lost all faith in any accuracy of the post.

Hey, I was wrong on that low ballpark number. Be glad I gave a low incorrect number. According to posters here, it was actually 30 million. Until a few days ago, I was misinformed to the tune of 100 million.

Oh, wait. We were all wrong. It was a total of 34 million, 29 million of which went to LU. https://www.insurancejournal.com/news/e ... /82606.htm

It's kinda funny that:
1. The photo of Jr on the Yacht would never have happened without that deal.
2. The first race after Jr resigns, Byron wins his first Cup race. Some of my more conservative friends thought the car was cursed because of Jr.

Just sayin..
They still put on a good show. And Tommy wrote it by his lonesome Dennis left the Band in 84 (?) after the disastrous Mr Roboto tour and creative differences. Yeah, I know too much about this stuff

Dennis' solo career went nowhere and Tommy did just fine in his absence particularly when he teamed up with Jack & Ted.

We are seriously dating ourselves.

And for the record, Mr. Roboto experience was fun not disastrous. Tommy took his art too seriously. I hear they are back playing it again on tour without Dennis.

Especially about Sr. I have a family member, who knew Sr. from the time he was a young kid, until the day he died. 90% :BS
Did your family member talk about how Sr's father, uncle, and grandfather were gunslinging moonshiners who made the news? His uncle cause national headlines because of a manhunt after he escaped prison.

I invite you to prove any part of my post wrong, but you will have to do so with proof.

Here is Jerry Sr's own autobiography. He talks about his own racism, while trying to whitewash it. Read it and weep. https://archive.org/details/strengthfor ... r/mode/2up
Respectfully, for those of us who have been around for a while, none of this is news. As you said, Sr put much of it in his own autobiography. And many remember Sr's debate with Jesse Jackson on Night Line when the Krugerrand issue was brought up. Jerry explained it wasn't a white or black issue but rather Marxists who were backing the African National Congress (ANC) while another black leader, Chief Buthelezi of the Zulu tribe also opposed the ANC. For Sr, he claimed it was a political issue. My guess he was probably pushed by a Richard Viguerie type to get involved.

I was of the understanding it was Dennis who was all artsy fartsy. They toured like it was Tommy Or Quadrphenia and fans wanted a rock show. Shaw and JY wanted rock. Dennis wanted Concet
They actually are playing Mr Roboto on tour now. Or were. Saw it in Charlotte and Roanoke. Crowd went nuts.
dang Yankees was an awesome project too

According to the Google I was right (Itts even on topic since Jerry is mentioned)

In addition to that, back in the 70's and early 80's almost every conservative preacher in the country was telling people to buy silver and gold, because the world was coming to an end. Most here probably don't remember the BIG push for back yard bomb shelters and food hoarding/storage for the end times. I can remember the grocery stores being totally wiped out and people waiting in long lines to get food, during the Cuban Missile Crises during the 60's. It was a pretty scary time for many. I know my dad hoarded gold and silver during that time.

puttincomputers wrote: September 1st, 2020, 1:51 pm Hey everyone. I have had an account since 2013, while I was a student. I have lurked off and on over the years, but never posted much. After I graduated, I got as far away from LU as I could. I saw this downfall coming from a mile away.

I first knew something was sketchy at the 2014 Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in front of DeMoss. For years, Jerry shot mistletoe out of a tree on the farm and would hand it out at the Christmas Convo. Well, at that 2014 lighting ceremony, Becki stated, "Remember, tomorrow Jerry is going to relax the no kissing rule for a day." Jerry immediately interjected, "is that rule still a thing?" I immediately began to question if Jerry even knew the rules placed on the students.

Before and after graduation, I worked in the Jerry Falwell Library's Archives and Special Collections. What I discovered there about the entire Falwell family (especially Sr), the history of LU, and the modern republican party completely turned me against conservatism, LU, and especially the Falwells.

Some of yal who defend LU tooth and nail should really go work in the archives sometime. What you will find there will rock you to your very marrow. Oh, and btw, I didn't even get to see everything. Jerry Jr had a tenacious grip on many of the historical records.

Jerry Sr wrote in his autobiography that God had changed Jerry's mind on racism. (He quit being a Dem when the dems adopted the desegregation platform, TRBC was whites only for years, and he preached pro-segregation sermons) Well, at the time of the book's publishing (in which he made that claim), Jerry was actively encouraging his followers to buy Krugerrands to prop up the Apartheid Government of South Africa.

Jerry Sr's activities were so egregious that many of his supporters fled and most of his ministries and projects collapsed. LU was barely afloat when Jerry died. What saved the Uni was Jerry's 10 milly life insurance policy. And now, that 10 mil has been paid to Jerry Jr to get him to leave. Ironic.

The article shared earlier that talkes about Flynt rejoicing over Jr's fall was brought up. What that article didn't mention was that Flynt and Sr became friends because they discovered they both hated feminism.

And don't forget, Sr straight up stated he didn't care if the football players were Christians, he just wanted a big time team to promote the school.

For those of you who still support Trump, but not Jr. Ask yourself, did you support Trump because he was the best candidate, or because Jr inexplicably backed him. Remember, Jr was a big Cruz guy. I'm almost certain Jr was blackmailed by Trump (re mutual fixer Cohen holding onto a photo of Becki) into supporting him. I would not be surprised if Jerry writes a tell-all book and throws Trump under the bus.

I would recommend "The Liberal Mind" by Kenneth Minogue.
A contradiction of terms. Either that, or it is a book of blank pages. :D 8)

Better to be a Progressive Christian book with a few pages than an Atheistic Capitalist book featuring the lengthy ravings of mad authoritarians seeking their own selfish interests (Ayn Rand comes to mind). Study
