News and Advance gets Jerry's reaction to Nasser's statement last night.

Nasser's comment if you misses it

“I am sorry,” Nasser, a senior vice president who has led spiritual programs at the religious institution for the last six years, said. “In my opinion, you as a Liberty student deserve better. And the embarrassment that's been brought upon you as a Liberty student, and more importantly brought upon the name of Christ, is wrong.”

“It's okay to call sin, sin,” he said. “You know why? Because it is the only way to actually start to deal with it. It is not love to simply stay in the dark, and not call shameful what God calls shameful. And if we're not willing to stand on that truth, then what in the world are we calling ourselves Christians for in the first place?”

Jerry's response:

"I called Nasser and asked him exactly what sin I committed," Falwell said. "He couldn't and wouldn't answer. He just hung up and now won't answer."

Nasser:

"It is true that Jerry Falwell called me and that I hung up the phone," Nasser said. "The reason I did so was because it quickly became clear that he was not interested in an actual, sincere discussion about his sin. I love Jerry and Becki and would welcome a genuine conversation

I do have a hypothesis, Gerb. I suspect JLFJR is using the attention of the scandal to position himself for future opportunities. Nearly anyone else under the circumstances would be holed up somwhere. But he iactively engaging the mdeia throughout this mess. I suspect it is because he recognizes that we all have short attention spans and he wants to get his name out there to land a lucrative contributor role on one of the cable news networks. At least that is my theory of the moment.

For those of you who go back far enough, Mark and Helen Lloyd, who taught at Liberty and were the founders of the King's Players ministry, worked at Asbury before coming to Lynchburg and were there for the revival. I heard lots of stories about it from them. It had a lasting impact on a lot of people, but unfortunately not so much on the school.

I was at that show in September 08. I talked to Becki that night.

I had two reporters ask me if I’d heard anything about Trey’s band and things with it a year ago. They also asked about Becki and a student. I couldn’t even begin to fathom it at the time.

Woo boy... I'm beginning to fear that this is just the tip of the iceberg with Becki and Jerry Jr..... Sin is progressive. You don't just live a righteous life and then invite a poolboy up to your hotel room. I fear how many others that there are.
