Shocker...I mean it isn't like I haven't said all along that Trump is going to win. I may not be able to commit to voting for anyone but I could see this from miles away. The rona threw a wrench into things but the democrats are terrible at handling things so it won't take much for Trump to recover.

Its funny that news organizations are parading lists of republicans that won't vote for trump. uuuum....none of those guys were "pro trump" until he actually won anyway! they all thought hillary had it in the bag. he didn't need them in 16 and he def doesn't need them now.

letting those cities burn while democratic mayors do nothing with a message of "we tried to help in portland and were told we weren't wanted" is IMO a great play for reelection.

It can be attempted to put that on him but Covid (regardless of the response) and Floyd will be successfully construed as not his doing.

as long as corona deaths don't go bananas and trump doesn't do anything illegal I think biden has blown his wad. this is about as good as it gets as far as what he can actually do or say.

I am not a huge fan of how Trump tries to clean his hands of everything going wrong by blaming the dems and wish he would take a bit of ownership but at the end of the day Joe Biden is just not a good candidate. So as much as I personally don't like Trump, a lot of people do and they like him passionately. That will always get more votes than trying to campaign on the fact that you aren't the other guy. Biden/Harris have slowly started talking about their plan but it is too little too late at this point.

How did the democrats get so bad at running national campaigns?

because their party is way more divided than the republican party really. that's their big issue. and having a platform that caters to "more gvt" yet "defund those who can enforce more gvt" is basically defeatist. If you try and please too many people you'll please no one.

I was thinking that 2 things are happening right now
1- The DNC is trying to figure out how to make this another Katrina
2- The RNC is planning ahead and rereading the notes so it doesn’t become a Katrina.
What gets lost in the shuffle are the people whose lives will be absolutely devastated by the hurricane

The latest Zogby Analytics poll had Trump’s approval at 52%. The president has recorded his best job approval rating on record.

What’s more, his approval rating among minorities was solid and, in the case of African Americans, shockingly high. Zogby said 36% of blacks approve of the president, as do 37% of Hispanics and 35% of Asians.

lol zogby polls.
New Rasmussen poll has 29% of the black vote going to Trump. Not a surprise based on conversations I've had with a few buddies.[/quote]

lol Rasmussen polls.

Totally agree with this assessment

Sister Byrne had the line of the night. "I'm not just pro-life; I'm pro ETERNAL life".

Some of my honorable mentions:

Dan Crenshaw
Michael McHale (President of the National Association of Police Organizations)
Rep. Elise Stefanik
Chen Guanchen (Chinese human rights activist)
Lara Trump (best speech from the Trump family so far. Ivanka has a high bar to reach tomorrow)

I also liked Lou Holtz, who was predictably goofy, but spot on, and Madison Cawthorne, the 25 year old paraplegic running for congress (although I've heard a couple of sketchy things about him I want to look into)

Really, there wasn't a clunker in the bunch, and I've never seen such an empasis on faith in this kind of political forum.

Is that the guy who got his picture taken at the Eagles Nest and said it was a Bucket List item? He caught some heat for that. Probably poor wording. But that place is spectacular. I’d love to go there myself

yeah. i mean Auschwitz is a "bucket list" trip i'd like to take. I'm not sure that means i'm a Nazi sympathizer. i don't know if a guy should take so much heat for calling a visit to the Kehlsteinhaus a bucket list trip.

I think he also had some sexual allegations made against him. true or not who can tell anymore.

Someone read some Mainstream Media hit pieces and took them for fact I see.
Or I live in North Carolina a few hours from where he's running and have kept up with that race since I first heard of him.

So what is your beef with Cawthorne Jon? Saying a trip to the Eagle's Nest was on his bucket list is a nothingburger. It was inspired by an old B&W picture he saw of US troops celebrating there after occupying it. There are questions about his finances. He has substantial assets that are not supported by earned income, but keep in mind, he had an insurance settlement from his accident, and there is probably a NDA. The one thing that appears to be legit is that he apparently lied about being accepted to the Naval Academy before his accident. I doubt there are many politicians out there who haven't done way worse.

I was impressed by his speech, both the content and the presentation. Someone that age with that kind of charisma is unique, and I feel pretty confident the RNC vetted him before putting him on the docket, in spite of the fact he was not their candidate in the primary.

The Eagle's Nest stuff wasn't as big of a deal to me.

The Naval Academy stuff shows a lack of character in my mind, especially given the things he said around that lie about who got "his" spot instead of him. Lying about resumes and experiences has disqualified all sorts of politicians and news media members before. It even cost Ergun Caner his job at Liberty. It's been something we've taken seriously in the past (on both sides) so it's odd to me people are just glossing over it with him.

He's lied - or significantly embellished - what he does for a living. He claims to be in real estate investing but journalists who have dug into that have shown next to nothing in the name of his company. The name he chose for the company is also troubling because of its connections to white supremacy groups. His earnings statement he filed showed no earned income.

There's the allegations of sexual assault. How much of that was actual assault vs a guy shooting his shot and getting shot down? I don't know the answer there. Given the political nature of it, I'm unfortunately conditioned to question the legitimacy even though I want to believe the accusers.

Lastly - he's a 25-year-old who doesn't even have a community college degree. Even without the issues mentioned above, someone with those qualifications is not qualified to be a congressional leader.

He's essentially Charlie Kirk Light. He's a dude with money and an opinion but no experience actually solving any problems.

Back to Trump, I just hope it's the minority vote that gets him reelected. He's assisted HBCUs. He's had success with prison reform, reuniting fathers to their families. He and Scott have created enterprise zone where needed. If the democrats hadn't played politics we would have had police reform passed and signed. He had the economy hopping , creating jobs for all and wages rising. It would be a great sign of healing if the minority vote is what keeps in office. Time will tell?

He really seems to dislike people without college degrees.
