one thing that dem's will have to deal with are the closet trump voters. they and their supporters have harassed people into silence. whether you are talking favorable/unfavorable polling or just who would you vote for polling, you can't take at face value what people are truly going to do. There are people within your party who say stuff like "round up all the trump voters!" and other silly things that are just said for retweets and likes.

i don't think biden will do well with debates. I think trump will continue to be goofy and lash out at random things. Its a toss up at this point.

Some highlights from the first night of the RNC, courtesy of PBS of all people. 8)

Those clips are all good. There were several other speakers who were impressive.

My personal favorite: Hershal Walker

My least favorite: Kimberly Guilfoyle Her bombastic delivery probably would have brought down the house.... if the house was not empty. Swing and a miss.

PBS left the best line from Tim Scott's speech on the cutting room floor. Speaking of his grandfather, who was pulled out of school in the 3rd grade to pick cotton and never learned to read: "My family went from cotton to congress in one lifetime."

Another favorite was Cuban-born businessman Maximo Alvarez. A portion of his emotional speech starts at 4:43 of the PBS clip.

Man, I watched some of the highlights just like I did with the DNC and these conventions are just not meant for people like me. I found a lot of it cringe worthy but this is all for the base and my version of conservatism is not what the Republican party is about anymore. I am sure it helped fire up the base but I can't imagine any of these speeches created any new supporters.

Also, Joe Biden does not lean very far left so it is comical they keep making him sound like a radical leftists. Do these people know radical leftists??? Joe ain't it.

Do you actually believe Joe Biden will be running things if he is elected? He is nothing but a trojan horse. 59% of Americans don't even believe he will finish his first term, which would leave us with Kamala.

And she isn't a radical leftist either. Again, I ask with all sincerity, do you guys know or talk to any radical leftists? Neither of these people are it. They lean further left than myself but that doesn't take much.

It is a strategy to appeal to the base but i think that is where it ends.

Depending on which evaluation you go with, Harris's voting record is anywhere from 1st to 3rd most left-leaning in the senate. She co-sponsored the green new deal, which is essentially designed to transform America to a socialist country.

As far as sleepy Joe is concerned, Bernie Sanders has let the cat out of the bag as to where he actually stands today. "He would be the most "progressive" president since FDR"

the entire primary season with the convention being the superbowl is a race to the far left or right the next 3 months are the exact opposite or at least should be. the past year it really seems like both sides have trully abandonded the middle the messaging should change somewhat after the conventions are over

Harris said she’d sign an EO to confiscate firearms. And shut down private insurance companies. Not really moderate

single payer is becoming more and more a moderate view. firearms being banned especially given the anti-cop and craziness going on in big cities is mind numbingly stupid.

Stop. Just stop. This whole agreeing thing isn’t healthy for the Board

How are they comparing to the Dems? I believe I read/heard it’s difficult to track all the streaming options. I watched like a half dozen “highlights” last week but have yet to see anything this week. I may catch Melanie’s address tomorrow. I find her an unfortunately maligned First Lady.

I too only watch highlights and neither party excites me but I'm not their target.

Thanks Not being able to track streaming really skews everything. I did hear that the production values are better. At least there wasn’t that hideous music video to end the night like last week

It's a good thing for demacrates that watching is not convenient. Republicans are making a great case for minority votes. An additional 3 or 4 percent and it's a landslide.

Probably due to one side being more enthusiast and intrested enough to watch both conventions. I could be wrong.

Yeah. Trump got a bump from the DNC convention and is now getting one from the RNC. The Rona is receding. The World has not collapsed. He’s looking strong
