Agreed and I think our athletic department handled it really well. Not much more you can do.

4) The media in general doesn’t like Liberty

We have to do things above and beyond in order to have positive things said about us. The first hint at something negative and people are going to pounce. It’s not fair, but it’s the life we’re going to live for the next decade if we really want to build into a true football program people take seriously.
Yes, yes, and yes. Well said.

You just can't replace a talent like AGG with one guy right away. Looking forward to seeing some of the young guys step up!

LIBERTY WILL USE COMMITTEE APPROACH TO EASE LOSS OF ANTONIO GANDY-GOLDEN

It’s not every day that you have to replace a wide receivers who capped his career with three consecutive seasons of 70 receptions, 1,000 yards, and 10 touchdowns, but that’s the position Liberty wide receiver coach Maurice Harris and his unit faces entering the 2020 campaign.

Season opener now won't be until Sept 19th at Western Kentucky. Schedule, I believe according to Freeze, probably out sometime this week.

Ian has been one of the best hires LU has ever made, even though we only vetted him for 4 days, according to some. 8)

More from Coach Freeze

LIBERTY CLOSE TO HAVING COMPLETED 2020 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE

“I’m sure we’re getting close to probably putting something out in his discussions with all the teams and trying to make sure the schedule doesn’t have three open dates in it,” Freeze said. “As I told our parents, we currently have a really good 10-game schedule when I look at the schedule on paper. We’re probably getting close to release something on that.”

Glad to hear schedule is close. Still worry about 2 FCS games since FCS teams have been stating they are not going to play in the all left and right. Hope these FCS teams don't back out on us and then it is too late to schedule Army, Texas State, Middle Tennessee, etc.

Yeah, that seems low but he is still fairly unknown at this point. I hope he proves them wrong.

New Names Emerging In Liberty's Secondary
By:Jon Manson

With all those departures, the secondary was a top priority for Liberty’s coaching staff on the recruiting trail this past cycle. The Flames brought in a number of new faces to the secondary, and several of them have been standing out during the early portion of fall camp.

A big Auburn fan was interested when he transferred. Said he’d do good at “LU’s Level”. Accuracy seemed to be his biggest knock. More runner than passer, which should be good with the loss of AGG.

Yeah. I think he will do fine here and will bring a different dynamic to the QB position. I look forward to seeing him play.

I mean it is entirely reasonable to believe that whichever quarterback starts for us will finish a lot higher than 123/130 in HCHF's system. And I mean a lot higher.

"Gardner-Webb of the Big South has 'no plans currently' to play fall football, school spokesman says. Leaves only Campbell and North Alabama in BSC playing fall football, as far as I can tell ... #FCS"

This is why i was so worried about these FCS games. Schedule Texas State, Middle Tennessee, before it is too late.

Sept 12 - North Texas, Rice
Oct 3 - Texas State, UTEP, Wake Forest
Oct 31 - Middle Tennessee

I thought we wanted easy games though because our schedule is too challenging at this stage. I was trying to give us easy FBS games to replace FCS ones if necessary
I just don't like them for a lot of the reasons I don't like JMU. Texas State changed their name after a pair of alcohol related incidents including a fatality.

I was in Austin covering the name change in San Marcos when it occurred in the '90s. It had much less to do with alcohol-related fatalities and more to do with marketing. SWT was neither in South or West Texas. It sounded like a small directional school when at the time it was a flagship of a roughly 100k university system (Sam Houston, Stephen F Austin, Lamar, Tarleton State, Texas A&I and a bunch of others) with over 30k students on campus. Yes, it had a reputation as the party school of Texas. But when you sit just a half hour away from what was the largest college campus in the US at the time, you have to distinguish yourself for something other than having a good time.

It is funny you bring up JMU when referencing Texas State, because it was their former HC Everett Withers who turned the program into a mess after he took over for Franchione. They became so desperate in San Marcos they were relegated to hiring an assistant coach from some backwater town called Morgantown to come in and attempt to clean u the mess.
