In my opinion, the ACC will help Notre Dame, even at the expense of screwing ACC schools. Don't know how it will play out, but Swofford will make sure ND is taken care of. Probably give them games with the lower tier ACC schools, all in South Bend.

They will help Notre Dame because A. It makes them a stronger conference and B. They are associate ACC members as it stands.

I posted a similar idea in another thread. But a worse case contingency plan if conferences play conference schedules only would either home and homes with the other independents other than Notre Dame like has already been mentioned....or worst worst case scenario...even then I think LU could do a shortened 7 game schedule. You have two FCS independents in Robert Morris and Presbyterian that could be paid to play LU at home. Then you have Umass and NM State that LU could pay for home games. Hopefully BYU, UConn, and Army would be willing to host LU. If one of those 3 gives us a home game, you could flip NM State or Umass to a road game. I doubt there will be any bowl games other than for the top 4 this year. At least LU then has a schedule. 4 home games 3 road games. Games don't begin until October.
I don't think recruits will hold this against LU. This was a weird year for everyone. I'd rather see some football as opposed to nothing. LU would be in position to do every other row every other seat if they used the whole stadium.

Need to be careful scheduling FCS teams. Bowl eligibility may come into play, if they have bowls. I want to go bowling again.

Good news... or at least a temporary reprieve. ACC has NOT already committed to a “conference only” schedule. They appear to be waiting until the end of this month.

In bad news: Virginia is up nearly 1000 cases in one day today.

In case you missed it, FBS teams are now being allowed to count 2 FCS wins toward bowl eligibility.

As of right this minute, unless something has happened and not been publicized, we still have all of our games on the schedule. Despite the ESPN report, the ACC did not announce a "conference only" schedule. To the contrary, they said that they were going to wait until the end of July before making any such decisions.

It honestly would not shock me to see the ACC & SEC do conference only + 1 in order to preserve rivalry games (FSU v. Florida, Georgia v. Georgia Tech, Clemson v. South Carolina, and Louisville v. Kentucky). If that happens, not sure if Tech would keep us or try to get Tennessee as their +1.

Too late to do that and won't be cost effective with limited tickets. I'm pretty sure UT would want it in Knoxville, but a future home date in Blacksburg against the Vols would probably be in the deal, if it happened. On the other hand, Tech does have a history of helping regional programs with scheduling, so they may keep us.

FIFY
I haven't looked at anyone's schedule lately, but sources tell me that VT loses a game with Penn State, while UVA loses game with VMI.

Ballcoach, Tech also has North Alabama and Middle Tennessee State on their schedule. When a school has a "direction" in its name, it's usually a CUPCAKE (like "West" Virginia).

I was in the camp where I thought we would have a normal season for the longest time, now I am not so sure :(

I’m in the camp where we should be halving a normal season. But it’s all CYA now

Back in April, I really thought by August we'd be seeing this whole thing in the rear-view mirror but that just isn't going to be the case. I'd be shocked if a season happens at all at this point.

I think the CYA portion has some validty but there are areas of the country that are really becoming hot beds again so there is some reason to be a little concerned about it. Either way, I was once thought we would have a second. At this point. I highly doubt it.

I'm in agreement here. In April I thought we'd be past this by now, but with the way things are going, I'm beginning to believe that there won't be a fall sports season.

Ok, lets be real, other than UGA (on UVA's schedule) and Penn State (on Tech's schedule), neither one had a murderer's row of OOC games. MTSU, North Alabama, and us fill out Tech's OOC schedule, while UConn, VMI, and ODU fill out UVA's schedule. I guess Tech should get some credit for including a bowl team (us) that's not from the P5, but both are pretty soft.

BC must be thrilled. Conference-only = fewer cupcakes by the big boys. VT’s OOC is a joke.
