Reference 4000 seat arenas, Robert Morris is playing tonight in their championship game. Their arena is full for only 2nd game this season. Other time was when they played Pittsburgh.

I believe a couple of former LU employees are now at RM. Chris King and Kim Graham. King is AD.

UPMC Events Center is very nice and looks like a template for our arena. Duquesne has been playing their mostly and PPG Paints Center some as their arena under goes renovations this year.

In a recent interview, Ian indicated that construction is on schedule for the arena to be ready in time for volleyball, and the entire home schedule may be played there, although contingency plans are being made in case there are unexpected delays.

One of the things I miss about Jeff Barber was the broader social media presence of the AD and seemingly constant updates- complete with pictures. Just not Ian’s style I guess. Even York has cut back. Obviously access to campus is probably limited these days but it’s been in decline over the last year or so. Thank God we still have Manson and his minions to do it.

You also get a nice view of the Liberty Arena from the third floor of the JFL, which is mostly closed except for a certain office in the Scholars Commons area where the Quiz Bowl trophy case is located.

I rode thru campus this morning. The new arena exterior is currently a dark gray. Reminds me of a huge Navy ship. Also rode by softball stadium to check out the 3 new outdoor batting cages.

Sources tell me they have started taking the Vines Center roof off. I will check it out when I travel to campus Thursday.

On an unrelated note, this view reminds me a great deal of the old Astrodome which now sits decaying next to the much larger NRG Stadium here in Houston.
