it most likely will not happen being that we haven't won a road game all year.

I would love to hang that on Greg Marshall or be the reporter to ask......" well liberty pulled out the win tonight, and it was there first road win of the year, your thoughts on that coach."
Marshalls response would be priceless and vulgar if that were to happen.

if we can make them feel some pressure early then hopefully Marshall will get down on his boys and get even more intense, I question how this team will react when Marshall goes OFF more so than he ever has this year

Winthrop might as well put us out of our missery.

I think Winthrop will win big ... by at least 25 points.

I am not very optomistic about this game on Tuesday. I think we'll come out swinging, like we usually do, and keep the game tight in the first half. And then, like usual, forget how to shoot and play cohesively in the second half. Who know's maybe some divine intervention will help us. You better start praying and fasting.

Thanks for registering NJ.

Obviously we should lose this game by a large margin. But we SHOULD have lost bigtime last week. If LB gets hot and they are cold again, anything can happen. I remain ever the optimist.

My prediction:

LU 71
Winthrop 70

We keep the game close throughout the 1st half. Start of the 2nd half Winthrop is ice cold. Larry is on fire, and we get up by as many as 18. Winthrop starts a huge comeback and Larry hits a 3 at the buzzer to cause mayhem in Winthrop land! Larry for President as he goes for 45 points!

(We can all dream can't we?)

well we certainly won't be sneaking up on them. I sure hope NJ stands for something besides "New Jersey".

Seeing our trend of playing tight in the first half and slowing down in the second has been running for a little while now, I'd imagine the same will happen again tomorrow night.

It almost seems like our main guys are starting to slow down a bit. LB has been carrying a lot of weight all season long. Maybe it's catching up to him?

I hope more people get on here and say how we're going to get blown out of the gym, b/c I'm superstitious and 99% (even myself) said that we were going to lose the last meeting with WU...so get on here guys and tell us how bad we are!

HMO ... I'll go as far as saying that this game will be over by the second media timeout. Winthrop will get out big early and LU will never have a chance.

If I'm wrong, feel free to berate me later on. :D

Realist,

Ironically you and I talked about a possible matchup like this at some point in the post season and how I couldn't wait to get back down there but we also talked about the recruiters hunting me down. I am not free to get down there unfortunately. Add to the fact that I have to leave early to get back to Lynchburg to call a women's game tonight and I will be pushing to get my 40 plus hours in this week. You need to get up to Lynchburg soon and we can hang out. If Liberty doesn't win tomorrow, good luck to you guys the rest of the way.

Sorry to hear it Scar, this time of year is tough for me too, if WU wins I won't be able to make the the thursday game. Not sure when I'll be up that way but if I am I'll definitely let you know.

though i would love to see the flames pull out a win, i have to agree with chris lang. winthrop will be focused, ready for revenge, and will win by at least 20.......not unless larry goes off, but still winthrop will win.

I think Torrell Martin continues his strong play and WU's defense will shut down everyone in an LU jersey whose initials aren't LB (he'll get his points)...Winthrop 66, Liberty 41

admittedly, that seems a fair prognosis, WEF.

but our esteemed "guest" from a last week assures us that if our student-atheletes are "living right" we will win. So there.

Larry Blair gets his points and LU scores 41...

Yeah, that sounds about right.

No, I'm serious. It does.

Just about to get on the road for Rock Hill ... just wanted to explain WHY I'm making the pick I'm making, lest y'all think it's just some sort of slap:

Look, Winthrop is the better team. There's no doubt about that. They're better at every position save for the two (though Larry vs. Torrell is fairly even there, with Larry getting a slight nod). The Flames played out of their minds last Monday to pull out the win. I'm not saying it was a fluke. Not at all. Hard-earned and well-deserved victory. People can claim Winthrop was tired, but Liberty was playing for the fifth time in 10 days, so that argument is shot. Both teams were gassed. Liberty played better on that given night because several people stepped up and played above the level they've played this season.

If it happens again tonight, Liberty has a chance. That means Damien HAS to show, same with Anthony, Rell (who always shows) and Evan. And if Liberty can get ANYTHING (heck even just minutes, rebounds and post touches) out of Russ and Doug, an upset is possible.

That said, Winthrop is too good of a team to let it happen. Winthrop will dictate the flow of the game, won't make silly mistakes, and will win rather easily because the talent level is just so much higher than LU's.

Tightsqueeze beckons. Gotta run ...
