Most teams, even good teams, go through rough patches. I'd much rather go through some growing pains now than in the conference tourney. I'm really disappointed in the level of play since conference play has started. There has been something not quite right. I'm not sure what it is but we just aren't playing with any purpose. The offense is not executing and the defense not nearly as consistent. Ritchie is a good coach and I think he will figure it out.

If my memory is correct, we struggled with this swing last year too.

Mcdowell made such a bad decision (if pt was the reason as mentioned). We desperately need another shooter and he would have player a solid 10 to 12 mpg at least and possibly more if he would have stepped his game up.

Rode is clearly not right and hasnt been effective because of it. Were really only 7 deep right now with him hobbled and mcghee is the only one knocking down the outside shot consistently.

Its time to go bigger with myo and scottie and play shiloh more when they get in foul trouble. Feed the paint. We dont have the shooting we had last year w/o cabbil gumbs and mcdowell. I think thats our best advantage. Thought that all year but we were still winning. Convinced of it now.

Offense has not been good. Down 5 points a game from last year. Free throws are a part of that but also getting almost nothing from bench, especially since conference play started. Rode has 2 points last 5 games combined. Robinson is still more of an athlete than polished. And Homesley is good about every other game but disappears too much to be counted on.

My biggest concern is we’ve lost our identity. We didn’t defend at all against North Florida and didn’t defend well in the second half today. If we don’t defend, we can’t play the slow methodical offense we try to play. Nor can we can cover up a bad offensive game by choking off the other team and getting just enough scoring.

Someone says that we are having problems. Maybe the fact that we are playing teams now that know out game. This is typical for conference games. By the way, we were feeding the post early and often at UNF, and still list, so I'm not going to get too worked up at this point. If we right the ship over the next few games, I think we'll be fine, but crazier collapses have happened to other teams.

We have to win the conference tourney first in order to get there.

You nailed it on the fact that unlike our non conference opponents, every team in the ASUN played against our system at least twice last year, and some 3 times. There is a learning curve involved in attacking the pack line, and they are now more prepared.

Now that an at-large bid is probably out the window, I'm interested and excited to see how Ritchie responds. Personally, I would like to see him sit Rode, who is clearly struggling with some sort of injury, until he is healthy and ready to play like the kid who was MVP of the Bahamas tournament again. Some of those minutes would obviously go to Shiloh, but I'd like to see us start to use Preston and Price in spots as well. Both bring something to the table, although I'm sure RMK has his reasons for not using them so far. When Stetson's box and one worked so well because Cuff, Georgie and Caleb couldn't hit the open shots it gave them, it would have been nice to be able to come in with another shooter, and say what you want about the rest of his game, Josh Price can flat out shoot.

I know we’ve talked in the past about the pack-line wearing other teams down, but it seems like the opposite is happening for us. With our lack of depth, we’re wearing ourselves down and limping to the finish of these games.

Early in the season, almost every game we would have a stretch in the 2nd half where we would lock down on D and take control, but we just don’t seem to have the push to do so thus far in conference play.

I don’t know how long we sit Rode, but he shouldn’t even dress for Kennesaw.

Haize is right, dog days of the season. Things happen.

We will get this corrected. I actually think we needed to pump the breaks on the hype train. It was out of control. Official Twitter and insta accounts annointing some of these players and coaches as GOATS, 4 videographers at each home game, the "RANK US YOU COWARDS" on twitter by the fans, it all seems kind of lame now once we started losing.

I understand the importance of building hype, but I also do not think its good for a team to be over hyped. It may be what keeps this team from reaching full potential.

Basically the same thing that I think has plagued LU for a long time. The product rarely matches the hype. This team will rebound bc we have the right people in place.

To summarize, I hate losing to anyone anywhere as a fan, but this two game skid and the humble pie could be just what the dr ordered for a nice post season run.

This and the Non Conference scheduling was pretty bad. We should have been able to find a few more top 100 teams in the country to play. Even if not P5. I think we were more interested in the big splash SEC victory, instead of playing quality opponents to prepare for the conference season.

We need to rate players based on the all time wins list (ie Georgie) based on conference wins. Mt University of the Holy Spirit Colorado should not count as a win.

Scheduling is probably the easiest thing in sports to Monday morning QB about. It's one of the hardest things to actually do, unless you are either:
1) An established and recognized power or
2) An automatic win.

We are neither right now.

That's so easy to say, but totally unsubstantiated and impossible to verify. Ritchie called every coach in the ACC (except Bennett) looking for a game. No "quid pro quo". Just play us on your floor. No takers. Funny how we are quick to praise our NATIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR for putting together and coaching up the best team we have ever had, but then talk like he is an incompetent (or a coward) when it comes to scheduling. Dude knows what he is doing. Starting the day we beat UCLA last year, scheduling has been like pulling teeth.

Combine Georgie's huge drop off in 3 point shooting with Scottie and Caleb's poor FT shooting and it's actually pretty remarkable we haven't lost more games. We got a glimpse yesterday, with his poor game, how life without Georgie may be next year. Thank goodness it looks like Drake Dobbs is the real deal. Scored 31 last night and broke his schools career scoring record.

Unless we have a transfer coming I would project this as a possible starting lineup for next year:

1 Drake Dobbs F
2 Darius McGee JR
3 Isaiah Warfield F
4 Kyle Rode SO
5 Shiloh Robinson SO

Totally agree on both counts, and I really think he will be looking PG for the grad transfer. Dobbs looks like the real deal, but counting on a FR to start at PG is pretty risky.

Schedule wise, the only thing I don't like is the NAIA games. I'd rather play an all D1 schedule. Otherwise, it's hard to predict how good or bad most teams will actually be. Like in football last season, I don't think most folks would have thought Syracuse and Rutgers were going to have been as bad as they were.

The only other thing I question with McKay sometimes is his rotation, expecially with Scottie. I think he's too quick to pull him for Myo, especially in the 2nd half. I thought against UNF and Stetson, Scottie played much better and Myo was largely ineffective, yet he still played Myo more in the 2nd halves. I'd also try to play Preston and/or Newton more. I think our depth is fine, except in size. I'd also play Scottie and Myo more together.

But those are and have been my observations as a fan. Obviously, McKay knows what he's doing and he will right this ship and we'll go dancing again this year.

I know some people don't like having ANY non-D1 games on the schedule, but they need to get over it. They serve a purpose, and are scheduled intentionally (not just because we couldn't get anyone else). I'll be shocked if we don't continue to see 1 or 2 every year for the foreseeable future.
