It was a privilege to be able to be there and witness a huge moment in LU football. How many third down stops did our defense make?!! What a performance of stopping the fullback and stringing out the option when they went wide. Although our QB play was inconsistent and our kicking game atrocious, I won't let that tarnish an unbelievable experience for my son and I. Great pre-game gathering of LU fans on Church Street. I'm proud to be a fan of a university that stands for the TRUTH.

Absolutely EPIC defensive performance. I said before the game that it would be all on the defense whether we won or not, and it was - though the offense wasn't nearly as smooth as I expected. VERY optimistic for the future, and looking forward to turning some heads next season.

Tells us how you really feel!!!

As a side note, I was one of those people. Its becoming clearer every day that I was wrong. I'm so happy I was wrong and that Liberty continues to make good decisions to do this the right way.

What a great day to be a Flame!
I was one of those people. Still am but not so much. Given the information at the time and the history of grandiosity without substance I’d take the same position again. This is a great day for LU athletics. If some want to celebrate it by saying “ I told you so” then it say it’s more about them then LU
I couldn't have said this better PH. Totally agree.

I mean it is kind of comical to read but I really couldn't care less what Coastal fans have to say. I'd probably be butt hurt too if I were them. They also had zero business moving up to the FBS so I'm not sure what they really expect.

It's not so much that I care as much as I just enjoy the fact that we're still in their heads.

D game plan was on. Kudos for the kids following through. Stopping this type of O is all about doing what you are asked to do and the kids did it. Great job! Aggressive flow won the day. The beauty about GS type of offense is once you are shut down there is no adjustment. GS tried to toss the ball a bit but they are not built for that.

What a fun ride its been. I was glad to be down there and to witness history.

As for Manson, most of our fan base was hesitant to move to FBS without any FCS success. I am pretty sure he was too. Given his track record I would give him the benefit of the doubt and not call him petty or say it was to be expected out of him.

I am not going to tell you how to be a fan, but Carone, its so annoying when we are in a celebration thread, and its always something crazy negative from you.

Your twitter feed blows up all day long except when LU football does something great, or is playing well. Its crickets. Why is there always the hesitation to celebrate and talk about how awesome this team and program is right now? Bitter about DR leaving ? Is it something about Jerry and football being his baby that you cant embrace it ? IDEK man. Go Flames, and nanuh nanuh boo to the haters. #expectedpettiness

The only thing I said in this thread that was negative in response to pettiness. My first post was about how great Scott Symons is.

I barely got to watch the game this weekend. I had a daughter with strep and had family things going on. That’s why I couldn’t be at the game. I’d priced out airfare and everything for every possible bowl and this was the one I couldn’t make work.

On top of that, I haven’t been able to watch an entire game since early November. My life isn’t centered around Liberty athletics anymore which is why I don’t tweet about it nearly as much. And if you’re paying so close to my feeds, you’d notice I’m not nearly as active on the weekends because I’m with my family. During the week I work on a computer so it’s much easier to send things out. It’s the same with posting on here.

I don’t know where that last post came from or if you’re just playing the character you play on here at times, but it was a bit much and was totally off base.

And for the record - I did tweet about the game.

That tweet still stands:

If anyone knows where I can get the black hoodie Coach Freeze was wearing, I’m ready to drop tens of dollars on it.

Well until then let's just keep this to celebrating the Cure Bowl and you guys can work out your issues on your own.

It's Christmas time guys and Liberty won a bowl game!

But unfortunately there’s always one know-it-all, my-opinion-is-more-important-than-yours person in every public forum...even if its the same opinion as everyone. It’s okay to voice an opinion that is similar to your peers instead of trying to find a unique way to oppose them or reword what was said.

Everyone has a brand to uphold, so it’s whatever. It’s that millennials in their 30s that were early adapters of content creation stereotype. Too kewl for skewl *cartman voice* haha!

Don’t know where that post came from? Saying that it’s expected that Manson be petty is a pretty low blow.

Go Bahumbug somewhere else. It’s not even a cute hater dark side thing anymore. From someone who admittedly doesn’t watch much, your the first on here when we lose.

I said it’s expected from Liberty. It’s in all our coverage, fan related and official channels. We made a cinematic hype video about how the haters said it couldn’t be done. I saw someone tweet something to JMU fans who were excited for their playoff game to ask them what bowl they were playing in.

It’s like we can’t be happy with our accomplishments unless we’re taking shots at someone else.

This is why our basketball team is my favorite team I’ve ever followed with Liberty. They promote themselves and celebrate their wins and accomplishments without having to go after the haters.

I’m one of Manson’s biggest fans. I routinely tell him how good of a job he’s doing. But yes, that line was a petty statement.

I also understand why he did it:

His readership eats it up.

I know I say this to you from time to time @Jonathan Carone but you have described basically every fan base in america.

Is it annoying and do I wish our fans didn't do it? Of course but it isn't ever going to stop because this is what a segment of sports fans do. Liberty fans are no different.
