good game I guess. Well it sounds like the refs were hosing WU but we certainly weren't helping ourselves in the 2nd half. I'm not into moral victories, but I guess the silver lining shows that if it comes down to a championship game vs WU in Rock Hill we can hang with them.

Great game by your guys tonight. I know everyone was having heart attacks in Rock Hill. Your guys shot lights out in the first half and thank goodness they cooled off after halftime. I don't want to face you guys again this year, but with the way LU is playing, I wouldn't be surprised if we did. Good luck the rest of the regular season.

Probably good- reread the game thread and I think I would have gone into heart failure.

We really must have scared the living crap outta them in the first half- too bad it didn't continue into the second.

Having said that- proud of the fact that the guys came out strong and were obviously VERY WELL PREPARED BY DUNTON AND THE COACHING STAFF.

kudos all around- after the middle of the season, I will say (for once) this was a decent moral victory in a loss to a very talented team in THEIR house.

The difference between the first and todays game against those guys was remarkable. Winthrop took Wisconsin and North Carolina to the wire so they are a very good team to say the least. Hopefully if we can keep up the same intensity we can win out and maybe meet Winthrop again in the conference finals.

This is exactly the kind of game I expected to tell you the truth, i said that LU would give them all they could handle it would be within 10 points....But knowing how close we actually were I wish we could have pulled it out...

I tell you though, this just proves how much we have improved since the last time we played them, we will do just fine the rest of the season...this team is coming together...its not like WU is some push over team...they are a legit team with a chance to make some noise in the ncaa's

I'll be the first. I've been preaching to see some improvement and a competitive basketball team on the court and then I'll give Dunton and Co. some praise. They were extremely well prepared. Excellent job by the staff and the guys busted their butts.

Winthrop doesn't want to see us again, that's for sure. (Of course, don't want to see them, either).

Jamie Lucky was the R in the game and he is a big time ACC official so I am sure they did a good job but the fouls were almost identical, but officials will never please anybody!!!!

From what I read on the thread of "what would make you happy" there should be a lot of people with at least some sense of happiness at where this team is going.

One of their guys told one of our guys after the game that they'd see us in the championship game.


The attitude of the fans towards me was a lot better than the last time I was there. Then again, the last time I was there I was wearing teal. There were a couple d-----bag students but that's too be expected.


Ace clearly has to get his head in the game. He was benched at the start of the game and then benched for the final six minutes as well. That HAS to change.


On a positive note, Russ and TB stepped in decent for him.


Smitty had his best game of the year.

It was a really good game. It started off on a negative note for me and the guys I went with. Soon as we stepped out of the car a guy was like "I'm sorry you came all this way to lose." It wasn't a joking way, he had a straight face and... yeah, it ticked me off.

When we got in there though and we had a great first half I was pretty pumped up.

It seemed to me that we came out flat in the second half because we couldn't establish an inside presence. Everytime we got the ball down to Alex, Bradshaw was all over him and probably some of that should be been called a fouls I think. That just got Alex frustrated I think. He even tried a three a one point.

I thought Russ played great tonight.

Larry was very good tonight. The first half he made just about everything he put up. Brewington played hard. Toward the end of the game he took control, going to the basket and drawing the foul.

I'm not a fan of Damien Hubbard. He hardly contributes besides a few rebounds.

I thought we would win tonight when we were down two with about a minute and a half left and Winthrop threw the ball away. We took it down on the inbound and the ball was stripped. That's when I came back down the earth.

Great game i had a great time, we shoulda got out with a "W" though. And yes their fans suck. For some reason this little kid was talking trash so i told him he was adopted and he didnt talk anymore.

I was waiting to hear from the guys that went to the game to hear what you thought of the game...sounds pretty positive...What a championship game it would be WU vs LU...I don't know if it will happen...but i believe those are now officially the 2 best teams in the conference....before liberty had the talent, now they seem to be putting it all together....now onto Saturday's game...I hope the crowd is there....I have yet to hear much promotion, but I hope that changes soon

wow man, calm down...most people on this board continues to give WU all the credit in the world...they are a good team, and chances are will win the Big South...but we are easily the second best team in the conference RIGHT NOW...nobody is getting cocky....we do have a shot at winning the big south because anything can happen, and the fact that one of your players told one of our guys "we'll see you in the championship game" makes it kind of clear that the players for WU know we're good too...

we are not better then WU...nobody is saying that...all people are saying is we do have a shot...and if you don't want to admit that then fine

From someone that has seen LU on many occasions, it was our best game, but not by much. Against HPU we played just as well during parts as we did in the first half of the game last night. We did something a lot of schools can't do: control the tempo in the Colliseum in the first half.

Winthrop fans were too be expected. I found it funny that a 12 year old was talking smack sitting in the LU reserved section. Carlton did a good job in his pink shirt leading the WU Crew. Some of it was unoriginal but that's to be expected from most schools.

It was a good game. Anyone who says otherwise is either blind, dumb, or wearing some insanely rose colored glasses.

No one is proclaiming Liberty as the best team in the Big South. The fact that we went into Rock Hill and punched Winthrop in the mouth and gave them a run for their money.

No one is saying Liberty is going to beat Winthrop if they somehow met in the Big South tournament but LU did show that they could hang with Winthrop and perhaps have a shot at winning that game. Thats it, nothing more and nothing less.
